Re: 9O MPH / 41 Apache race
I would think there are SEVERAL HUNDRED if not thousand Cigarettes and probably less than a hundred Apaches in the world so they are alittl tougher to come by. Hell the probably are less than 30 41' how many 38's do you think there are?

A brand new 42 or 46 Cig is about 700k which is the same (give or take) as a new Apache

Re: 9O MPH / 41 Apache race
Dean,
I'd put that boat put against most Apaches out there. It has more racing history than any Cig out there. It would be great to see it out and running. With your power it will be tough to beat. A.B. |

Re: 9O MPH / 41 Apache race
Fat Boy needs to be back on the race course.....I suggest P3 in SBI to tag team with P3-19..... :D

Re: 9O MPH / 41 Apache race
I throttle the 38 Cig , however I voted for Apache because it has always been my favorite race boat. It all boils down to who is in the boat and has the balls big enough to hang it all out and for I one can care less if I have a 41/47 whatever on my port/std in the first turn.

Re: 9O MPH / 41 Apache race
..uh, ......dude, ...........we hardly ever have anyone on our port/stb side at the first turn..... :drink:

Re: 9O MPH / 41 Apache race
Since we are Bull****tin
What about this one, just to mix it up a little - 42 with 1050s and sixs, with a 6 man bolster, on their website it is listed at $119, not bad compaired to a 87' 41 apache for 175 without motors http://www.offshoreonly.com/esvon/page-6490.html Wild |
Re: 9O MPH / 41 Apache race

|
Re: 9O MPH / 41 Apache race

Re: 9O MPH / 41 Apache race
Rockstrmker, is that Warpath 69 in Newburyport, MA?
|
Re: 9O MPH / 41 Apache race
I'm assuming Warpath still lives in MA . The pics I posted are a few years old. I have not spoken to Jay, the owner, in a quite a while.
|
Re: 9O MPH / 41 Apache race
I met Jay while flying home from KW last year. He said the boat is recently redone and is in great shape. He said he has problems with the noise in that area.

Re: 9O MPH / 41 Apache race
Cool!
He's a super nice guy, and that boat sure has a lot of history. If that thing ever came up for sale.... |

I would be proud to own either one, but when comparing the boats from that time frame, I have to go with Apache. I don't know exactly what it is, but there is just something about the Apaches that I really like.

jr Mike First, more people buy used boats- way more. There are a thousand other boats available for every Apache. Second- Apache's are heavy and take alot of power. The original one's anyway. Now you've got a hull & power that needs 6's. I can go faster, cheaper in a TG. Also, not everyone can rack-store a 41. Most can handle a 38. One might PREFER an Apache but OWN a TG or other boat for practical or economic reasons. Third- On the new one's, there's that whole Apace/McManus/Comanche/Saccenti mess to weed through and an exceptionally low-profile custom builder to deal with. How many new TG's are there out there right now you could take delivery on tomorrow? More than a couple. Fourth- If you want to own an Apache, you're dealing with a vintage boat- not unlike a vintage car. You can dump alot of money into one, just like an old Vette or something like that. The transoms had a limited life expectancy and if not redone properly it can be an even bigger mess. Like anything 20 years old, God only knows what bastardized patchwork lies beneath that shiny, new paint. You have to be a hands-on guy with skills and resources or a wealthy guy who wants something totally different. The barriers to owning an Apache are significant. I don't know that everyone realizes or remembers all this but I can tell you this- you can walk down the docks anywhere there are more than a handul of fast boats, the Apache is going to get the greatest number of looks and comments. |

sounds great Ike, cant wait to see you on the bay this summer:)

Re: 9O MPH / 41 Apache race
Cris,
He was asking the question about the older "90MPH" model Cig, not one that goes 90 mph. I guess the biggest difference that I can see is that one is a production boat and the other is a custom boat. Sort of like buying a home from Pulte Builders or hiring a custom home builder. Robert |
Re: 9O MPH / 41 Apache race
Well lets hope Pulte does not get in to building boats because if there boats leaked like there houses the BIT**** Would sink.It is gonna be interesting on the Bay this summer to see who Ike and John beat up on in the RUFF. :D
