John has forgotten more about offshore history than some of us ever knew.
A little known fact about him, is that he was actually a crew member on a Miami to Nassau winning boat.
He rode with Sam Griffith in a race that was so rough, Sam pulled the wires out of the radio so they couldn't be contacted by race control and called back to safety.
John showed up the morning of the race wearing a blue suede jacket....it only took him about three weeks to get the blue stain off his skin after the race was over and he finally dried off.
