Question Blower motor's...............

How often are you guys changing the oil on your supercharged engines? I have been told I should be doing it about every ten hours.....that seems a little extreme to me.......

If i put Ten "beat the **** out of my boat" hours on the motor, then i will change it at 10hrs. Otherwise it's usually every 20-25hrs.

SP1,
What did you decide on your Ext. Steering? I looked @ your e-mail last night, but my KE system is single ram/single bravo so my $$ will not be the same as yours. Plus, Marine Performance was installing my HP500 and that made it alot easier to install the Ext. Steering. Good Luck, and do yourself a favor and call Marine Performance, they are great guys to work with.
MD
PS I change my oil every 20-25 hours because of all the IDLEING I have to do and the HP500 is still stock, except for the KE exhaust.

I change my oil at about 25 to 30 hours. This spring I am switching to Amzoil synthetic and will extend that interval out about double.

TEE,
As a suggestion I wouldn't extend your oil
changes just because you went to Amzoil.
A friend of mine is a dealer for them and tried to sell me on that. Sure it is probably better lubrication than petro oil but the reason for changing oil is to get rid of the contaminates.
At least send the oil out for analysis at 20hrs.

The reason to change the oil more frequently is the blower itself. The blower is pushing gas/exhaust past the rings into the oil. It is getting contaminated. My blower motor is about $50,000 new and an oil change is about $50.00. Stick to the 10 hours.

I am a dealer for Amzoil also. Been using it in everything I have owned for the last 20yrs. You are right and I should have elaborated that I would continue to change filters (dual filters) at the same interval of 25 hrs, and send in a sample for analytacal report.
