HOW DID YOU FIND OSO

Now with over 3800 members, I was just wondering how everyone found this place. I found it through a LINK from another site. You????

Crazyhorse 01-19-2002 08:11 PM

Dyno told me about it.

BajaRunner 01-19-2002 08:11 PM

I was referred by a fellow performance boater. I was asking him questions and he said go to this site.

DONZIMAN2 01-19-2002 08:12 PM

Started on Donzi Net and a friend ask me if I had heard of OSO. Been a great deal for the boat stuff.

Becca 01-19-2002 08:14 PM

My other half has a very early membership# and I always read without responding until he kept telling me I should get with it. So I did, much later.

Ted G 01-19-2002 08:20 PM

Raypanic 01-19-2002 08:42 PM

I was told about OSO by Formula Powerboats!
I called to ask about a technical question on my 1990, they made their suggestion and told me to go to OSO and see what was said!
Best thing I could've done, next to buying my
Formula :D :D

It's all Troutly's fault!!

Troutly and some other friends of ours came down for the Shootout @ LOTO last summer. He said he was supposed to be meeting some people he met on the internet. I couldn't believe talked with these people on the net and was now going to meet them. I razzed him so bad about that :p :D

Those "other people" turned out to be Waterfoul, JBK, MnFastboat, etc....I made a lot of new friends that weekend.

Now look at me......I'm a junkie like the rest of you. :)

traviss 01-19-2002 10:47 PM

your a leather junkie too :D :D :D

MissAmy 01-19-2002 10:56 PM

Traviss,
I'm starting to worry about you and this "leather" thing! ;) :D :D :D

traviss 01-19-2002 10:58 PM

I found it through some search engine back in the days of the old board. The board didn't have anything that interested me, so I moved on. Later, after it got restablished, I lurked for a while before registering. Back in those days, everybody knew every one and what they were about. Today, I only see a few of those old names, and alot of people that I don't know.

Anybody remeber the celebration when we first hit 10,000 posts? How about 1,000 members? Wow, that seems like it was such a long time ago...

NW_Jim 01-19-2002 11:05 PM

Back in 1997, my 10 year old son started a website called BMXonly. It got me to thinkin and I started a site called offshoreonly. I didn't have my own domain name at that time, just had the free web site most ISP's give you. Well much to my suprise in 1999 when I finally decided to purchase a domain name I discovered offshoreonly.com was already taken. I then changed to nwoffshore.com. I don't know who came up with the name first and I don't care, but I don't think I could have come close to doing as fine a job with my site as has been done here. Keep up the good work. :D

NW_Jim 01-19-2002 11:10 PM

I don't know if I remember an old board or not, but I do remember the rec.boats.racing in the days BUBB (Before Ultimate Bulletin Board). :D

That was still in the 90's right?

sean stinson 01-19-2002 11:37 PM

puder 01-20-2002 12:28 AM

i found it accidentally. I was looing for info on offshore boats and when i entered "Scarab" it brought up the old for sale page. The rest is history.

pullmytrigger 01-20-2002 12:32 AM

I found the old board while surfing,I lurked for two or three months before I joined. Then I was only going to post on the Fountain site, hence the name twinn29, I am going to change it when I decide on a name for my boat,I really dont like the name twinn29 but I thought it would only be a temporary thing, we're up to six months now

Todd Hartigh 01-20-2002 01:51 AM

Found it from a search, if you could have seen the old site and what went on you would have flipped, even shut the site down because of all they B.S.

Hey To Old remember the fast mike days? He actually showed up to L.O.T.O for the shoot out in 00 but he didnt enter.

Todd

MnFastBoat 01-20-2002 02:20 AM

Milord 01-20-2002 03:01 AM

hp500efi 01-20-2002 07:56 AM

I too found the "old board" using a search engine. That old board was wayyyy out of control.

Sure was glad to see the new board because the discussions are much more friendly and interesting.

Biggus 01-20-2002 08:04 AM

Audiofn told me about it back when it was the old board  It was rediculous! I would lurk occasionally then I left because it was too wacked! Jon told had mentioned that there was an all new format and I`ve been here since
:D

When the new board came online, they advertised it in the back of Powerboat Mag.

Shorgasm 01-20-2002 09:02 AM

I tripped over it in the yard....smelled real bad... :(

Actually I beleive Boatered gave the link...or someone on there.... ;)

Red Stripe 01-20-2002 09:52 AM

A friend sent me a link to it and I checked it out. It must have been the old board because it looked different and was pretty wild. Then, months later, they were talking about it on www.Teambajamarine.com and I came back to check it out. Been here ever since :D

Jana 01-21-2002 08:10 AM

I saw the old board a couple of times and didn't take much notice. Then, when I was searching for a Fountain to buy, I wound up in the classifieds and decided to check out the board again. Didn't take long to get hooked.

Advantage_Rob 01-21-2002 08:26 AM

I did a search on offshore, and found it a long time ago, back when it was a full out brawl all the time, then that got old, and didn't look for a while, then I came back and it was what it is today. It's intresting in comparing the old and the new oso, and how now it self moderates itself for the most part. When someone's being an itiot, many people are quick to calm them down and point out that we aren't looking to turn this into an mud slinging contest.

HiPerf2000 01-21-2002 08:54 AM

I too was here in the "Old Days" where you didn't need to be Registered to Post....What a Mess that was, but I still kept Reading for the Good info that was mixed in all the B.S.
I found it by doing a search on "Offshore Performance".

Wally 01-21-2002 09:15 AM

Just stumbled across it back in the old days and was hooked... Though in the begining the board was a bit harsh! so i only checked it every so often to see what was up. Now i'm hooked like a bad habit and cant get away! :D

mattyboy 01-21-2002 09:33 AM

the donzi board got me here!

I was standing in the shower thinking
about what makes a man....

I was looking for a new boat and one of my searches took me to hear. The guy that was selling the boat was on this site.
