I think Mike Fiore and Bob Russell won a world title in a 42' or 47' OL also.

So is that when they put "world champion" on the boats?

Hey Jassman, there's a brand new Gun in the classifieds for under 400k right now. Not all Guns are up near a mill. Matter of fact most arent.

378k is great price, DEMO...but most are in the 550-650 price range. When you look at the dealers ad's , and then call thats the price that is given with 525's. My point is prices have gotten out of hand. It's immaterial if you can or cannot afford 1 mil. There is no more EXCLUSIVITY. I realize nobody pays retail. I like Cig, and really like OL, but cant justify the additional coin over a Nortech or Hustler. When the quality of these 4 are so close, other than the amount of paint. Just my observations. Jeff

heck i love fact that cigs cost that much more, cus i never gona afford a new one , and it just makes it that better of a deal to buy one used for a little more coin than a similer used fountain, which costs considerably less new :drink:

Outerlimits are great boats and perform very well no doubt about that BUT winning in P-Class is NOT a so called World Chapionship! When are they and some other so called World Champions gonna step up and put some boatis in Super V?

Agreed. I do like the NorTech's and their Vbottom is a great looking boat (never ridden in one). Hustler on the other hand...I'll keep my opinion on that off a public forum.

But yes, boat prices are out of control. I think you have to commend Cig on doing the Spyders and trying to lower the prices on an awesome boat to meet more poeples income levels...smart.

On the topic of "World" champion...Couldn't agree more. How are you going to be a "world" champion when offshore racing is BIGGER over seas than it is here and they can't even get their sh!t together to have all of the U.S. race groups race together....f*cking lame!!!

And I know the whole topic of World Champion on Cigarettes logo has been beaten to death around here but I respect what Arronow did to deserve that title and think he/the company deserves the recognition....Just like (can't believe I'm going to say this) I think Fountain deserves the recognition for what he's done in the sport too. But then again, his boats say nothing but "Fountain" on the side.

That's because with Fountain you already know the answer to the question.

Re: Has Outterlimits ever won a world title???

As far as race boats with REAL championships (most multipul) these boat brands come to mind first:

Fountain 1990's thru today

Skater 1990's thru today

Cigarette 1970's-1980's- lots of Championships back in the day, can't seem to beat Fountain today

Apache 1980's- to bad this brand ended and nobody can keep the legacy going

Scarab late 1980's thrus mid 1990's- to bad Wellcraft killed them

Why not?

Re: Has Outterlimits ever won a world title???

Lee, P-Class although regulated un-like the old L-Class (Local Class) but not fully inspected-regulated like the Pro Series was designed for people to try out offshore racing, race a boat that is not legal for the Pro Series and a place for manufactures to test products that are not yet legal in the Pro Series.
P-Class is desgined mostly for people to try out racing and then move up to a Pro Series class such as SVL, SV or SC and so forth. these are not my personal opinions but that is just what P-Class is all about. P-Class was put in place as a feeding ground to grow the sport.

My personal opion is that the people in P-Class are having a lot of fun and P-Class has surely grown over the old Local Class' but it is not as professional as Super V for example. I feel P-Class racers take P-Class more serious than it really is. If racers do not move up from P-Class to a Pro Series Class then this is another reason the sport will not grow.

Yeah, Your right, P-Class is not as dangerous and does not cost very much and not nearly as professional

rich, believe it or not buddy, I AGREE with ya!

Lee, sorry you took me the wrong way as I was not putting you or the other P-Class guys down. What you and some other might not understand is that P-Class was put in place to grow the sport and move racers into the Pro Series. The Pro Series is were the sport will grow or die.

Mark Mcmanus is doing an outstanding job building quality boats, and is the legal owner of the Apache name. I would liken him to the Saber guys, they let the boats speak for them.

I am talking about the racing legacynot boat building quality's. I am not saying Mark will not build you an awesome Apcahe, but none of them are racing. We are talking about World Championships here not who builds a great boat. So when I think of Apache and it's racing history I think of the Apcahe's of the early to mid 1980's. This has nothing to do with Mark's ability of outstanding boat building quality's. I NEVER doubted that. :D

I remember this coming up last year. I think they won a P5-Class race in Key West...I might be wrong though but nobody has ever said.
