Time: 2:30pm - 3:00pm
Location: Waters Edge, Bayville NJ
Boat Last Seen: Heading north toward Seaside Bridge / Toms River

Size: 38ft - 40ft
Make: Silverton (or similar type boat)
Type of Boat: Sportfish Convertible Fly Bridge
Name on Transom: Fishin Mission


Fishin Mission was last seen driving through the mooring buoys located at the Waters Edge restaurant. The boat cut several mooring buoy lines on other boats moored there and caused tens of thousands of dollars worth of damage to several boats.

Fishin Mission never stopped and ignored the multitude of people yelling from the dock.

That is why I like having the Forum Links page on my site. When I need to get a message out quick, I just go down the list and hit the appropriate Forums.....

And from I understand an email has been sent out to every dealership / broker in the state of NJ.

Sounds like an exiting day at the Waters Edge....unfortunately the kind of excitment that is not needed. Good luke finding him and Im sure you will keep us up to date.

Unfortunately yes..... :(

Could you imagine the helpless feeling of standing on the dock, watching someone cut your mooring line and watch your boat drift off in the choppy waters of Barnegat Bay with having no way of getting to it ?? :eek:
A very good chance of slamming the boats around it as well as ending up on the rocks along the beach..... :mad: Fortunately the wind took it to the docks instead.
I hope we can find him.....

I think they may have found him.

The owner of one of the boats that was severely damaged was called today. But I guess until they see the bottom of the suspect's boat, they wouldn't say much more on the subject.

I saw pics of one of the boats today. :(

From what it looks like, the guy must have driven right over the transom of the moored boat. :mad:

Arneson drives destroyed, props wrecked, steering clevis bolts sheared in half. :eek: The boat was literally pulled around 180 degrees from its mooring from what I was told. :(

It was fortunate that it was tied to one of the closer moorings to the dock, so when it broke the mooring line the wind blew it right to the dock. But not until it rubbed another boat on the way in...
What a mess. :( :( :(

I am sure glad no one was hurt.

Let's hope the authorities can find enough evidence to charge the guy!

I just thought that since the WSJ reporter only criticized our " Cigarette boats " for that kind of behavior maybe she should realize that there's a greater " idiot factor " when it comes to cabin cruisers !!

Sadly, it is a great opportunity for our fearless NJPPC leaders to rebutt the WSJ article, using this example.

Exactly how many sailboaters, kayakers, cabin cruisers and shorefront homes were damaged, washed away by the Cigarette boat's giant wakes the same weekend? How many punctured eardrums, divorces and shoreline home devaluations were caused by the ear splitting noise of said boats?

I have to edit that part CBR. The wind carried it to the docks instead of the rocky shoreline. The potential was there though. The hull has some damage from hitting another boat once it was broken free from the mooring.... :(

How did the drives get bent like that? Must have been some wind to slam the boat into something to do that!

Maybe you missed something?
A guy in a 38 to 40 foot Silverton or a boat like a Silverton drove over his transom, pulled the boat around 180 degrees and then drove off .... :(

Geez! It sounded like the goof merely cut the mooring lines, not actually driving over the stern and outdrives. How in hell can you do that without being totally drunk or asleep in the cabin?

Why couldn't somebody that was there jump in a boat and follow him till the State Police could catch up? I've been there before there's always lots of boats.

Most boats are out on mooring bouys and you need to take their shuttle to get you to your boat. The ones at the dock, I know from personal experience that it is not the easiest place to get in and out of, especially when the bay is kicking up!

That sucks!! :mad: Sharkey......when you find out who this guy is, try to have the police check his credit card statements to see if he had a bar tab that day. More than likely the guy was drinking.

I also found web cams on the Waters Edge website. One of them is facing out to the dock. Hopefully the cam is recorded.

I told my buddy this and asked him to check for any security cams that may be looking out to the moorings. They just may have this whole thing on tape! :eek:

Damn that sucks.. I hope they get the azz hand fry him for his behavior. One thing Ive noticed the last couple years, including the beginning of our boating season here, is more and more ignorant boaters out there. I cant tell you how many ive seen come waking the docks, less than 75 feet out while partially on plane like its ok.... :mad: Meanwhile the river is at least a 1/4 to half mile wide where we are at.
