Re: West Michigan Roll Call
KAAMA here...reporting in. I have been prepping the boat for summer. For the last few weeks, I have just gotten my carbs back for a rebuild, switched to cooler running thermostats, fixed hatch hinge.
Also, just replaced the starter on the port engine last night---boy was that ever fun! I still have to change out the spark plugs yet which is pretty easy on an Active Thunder. Might try for the water on weekend of June 17th or so down in St. Joe. By the way, "Tinkerer" is getting his boat ready for the water this year after sitting out of last year's season. He says he will be coming up to Grand Traverse area this year a few times for a change. Crazyhorse, has got one engine running and ready to go and the other he's just getting the heads on----it will probably be the end of June for him I would guess. At least he has a truck and new trailer to pull the boat up to Grand Traverse Bay, Lake Charleviox, and Elk Rapids area. The same goes for BGIII and his 34' Saber. Doug (38' Cover Girl Top Gun) is just getting his drives back from TNT and will be hauling up to Traverse City area this year a few times as well. So, I am trying to rally the troops to tow their boats up north this year---and get us a convoy goin' on. :D |

Believe me, I am ready to go for a boat ride---just want it to be a nice day, and calm water conditions so I can anchor in the sandy shallows and close by the beach---something like this...

Dyno, My son is 2 months old and I plan to have him on the Check in August. I want his neck to get stronger. Here is a pic of the little rascal. Good luck with the new one. |
Re: West Michigan Roll Call
KAAMA>>hows it goin Mark, in front of the first sand dune, and the biggest, S of the pier it is waist deep up to 10ft from shore. I checked up and down and it is the deepest spot. It is great, you could make it in but I would get to chest deep and walk it in. The lake has been really calm this year, this weekend they say 3-5s from the N so it may be exciting, I leave the dogs home on these days :D I have 11 hours now, I am shooting for 100, all on less than 20 gallons and I run it near wide open all the time, that's what egg beaters want anyway. I'll be looking for you and anyone else, just look for a RIB with a black and yellow lab, gray in color Zodiac, 20ft long. We should plan a run to GH and Hanky Panky, I can sneak to all the good topless spots instead on being stuck in a sausage raft :D So far it has been a great season, a little cool out there but when you stop it is fine. Come on Don, no answer on the gas deal, you can not let that sit all summer, it will condensate and rust guaranteed, unless you fill it with oil or diesel fuel so lets run it a couple times, I have not even been on that boat and I want to see how it runs. So come on, lets just do it, you me your daughter, wife if she wants and my two dogs  I'll be buy to hook it to the X and get fuel.

Hiya Mitch....hey, didn't know that was you until you pull up along side of me a few months back on I-196....thought you were a tailgater or that you were trying to do something just to irritate me---I thought; "What is it with this dude???!!!"....but once I knew it was you I was cool with it. I knew you were just trying to catch me to say hello.
Anyway Mitch, I don't do much boating up around Holland/Grand Haven. When I talk about tossing an anchor, it's usually about 12 miles or so south of St. Joseph pier heads. I will be boating out of St. Joe and heading north to South Haven with some other boats during the SOTW poker run to watch the boats come in....probably about 1/2 mile north of the South Haven piers or so. If I am not boating out of the St. Joseph harbor, then there's a good chance I will be boating up north around the Grand Traverse area, etc. Dyno...GET THAT BOAT IN THE WATER SON.....OR I'M GONNA RATTLE YOUR CAGE WITH MY STELLINGS! I guess I can understand not wanting to put your boat in the water this year I suppose....I guess it was kind embarassing and painful for you as I just kept doing circles around you last year during the NMFR in Grand Traverse Bay. Heck, I had as much fun doing that than a tordado in a mobil home park!!! :D Well, you were okay with it as long as I kept feeding you those chocolate chip oatmeal cookies I had on board when we stopped and rafted off for lunch that day to help ease the pain. Now, you know if I didn't RAZZ you a bit, then you'd think I didn't love ya Don !!! :snide: ;) :) |
Re: West Michigan Roll Call
I could tell you were pissed but I had to let you know it was me....how many lifted excursions with 35s do you know of??? :D Now you will remember. I am sure I will see you out, do you still live in Holland or did you move South? Hope all goes well, I say we tie up Don, throw him in his boat and make him enjoy it. :D

Re: West Michigan Roll Call
trimman,
You guys are driving all that way and coming from all over just to go to Grand Haven?????? Grand Haven is actually a nice harbor, but it would be much better if it wasn't for the water patrol so, I say that in hopes you all have mufflers cuz those are usually NOT friendly waters! You should really check out Hardy Dam if you're going to drive and haul your boats from those kinds of distances. Are you and your gang coming up for SOTW poker run too? I hope you have a great time, and that your stay in Grand Haven is an uneventful one. :) |
Re: West Michigan Roll Call
Yes we are sorta of a central meeting spot for all of us its only 3.5-4 hours for me , i have alota family up that way anyways, i would go route via the big pond but i only have a single screw refuse to do it until i get my twins, Dominator scott is bringing the lime green 112 mph dominator, thanks for the noise warning , i am borderline in il. 92 -93 decibels. No SOTW for us , we ussually tow up to st. clair for the sunsation rally but no rally this year, every 2 years now. We tow down to LOTO for the shootout in aug. thats our big tow , not looking forward to that gas bill, my boat is light 4900 lbs boat and trailer.

Re: West Michigan Roll Call
Been out on Memorial day. camping and the NASCAR race cutting into a few weekends, but full effort for boating after that
I am personally inviting everyone in west michigan to our 6th annual SEA100 Poker run. Only $30 a head, and the captain is free. It is a fund raiser for a local cause each year, usually an individual in need. We raised $10k last year ... gonna be hard to beat, but there is power in numbers !!!!! Date, Tuesday, July 18 please email me if you are interested in a mid week excuse to take friends from Holland to Saugatuck for a fun night out for a worthy cause. robert dot hamelink at jci.com Rambunctious |

Re: West Michigan Roll Call
Looking to splash the boat if the weather is nice this weekend out of St. Joe-----maybe I'll buzz up to South Haven and take a peek. From what I am hearing the weather is supposed to be very nice.
Josh, I may be up there for the Blue Angels. Looking to launch out of Elk Rapids---are you running down to Traverse from there by any chance? |

Re: West Michigan Roll Call
I was out for the first time on Saturday! Very windy, but it was coming out of the South/Southeast so, it made for decent water conditions. I saw Chris Merrill and his wife in their 35' Cat and ran with them down to Warren Dunes. Also saw Devin and his 28' Eliminator and Ken with his 32' A/T up near South Haven and a few others on the way there and back. It was a great day for boating. :)
