Did you blow the upper or the lower?

What about putting some asd-7,there is another Formula with a set on and from what Rik told me the set up sounds familar to yours, blower motors. A little over 100 hours and not a problem. Jeff

BTW, that boats paint job looks awesome, very clean, very classy.

Considering the weight, length and power in the boat that's not bad at all.

Love the Formula so don't get me wrong but with that power it really should be going a lot faster. For example in the lastest Hotboat mag I saw the 382 (38') Formula went 81mph with twin Merc 600's. The same day same test the 42 Fountain with twin Merc HP525's went 84mph. The test article specs show both boats cruise at 4000rpm at about the same speed. A 42 Fountain with 600's will run 100+. What would a 38 Cigarette with 525's and 600's run? I guess around 85 with the 525's and 93 with the 600's?
I know with twin 525's the 382 Formula goes around 78mph so compare that to other 38+ foot boats.

May have the speed but doubt the ride is as comfortable as the formula. Two very different boats IMO.

The 42 Fountain has more length than the 38 Formula. The Formula has a huge swim platform too. At the water line the Fountain is a good 3-4 feet longer.
Slow does not mean smoother ride.

I have been in both. The Formula will ride better in any conditions and is more comfortable at any speed. I'll take that over top end speed anytime.

What does a '42 Fountain weigh?

More than a 38 Formula...around 11k. I'd still take the 42 Fountain any day or a 38 Cigarette even at cruise!
