Fountain has a pad keel and flatter bottom. The Formula has a deeper V and higher sides.

I've been in both too. I'd take the Formula on a rough day and the Fountain when it's calm.

Im just curious, as i havent been in both of the above boats. How would a 36 Baja Outlaw's ride compare to those?

Me neither, have not been in a 36 Baja. I would guess since the bottom is simple it would be easy to drive and probably pretty smooth.
Panther don't both boats have a 23 degree bottom? Yes the Fountain has a pad but with the longer nose the Fountain could cut down and span some of the rough stuff pretty good. Back in 2000 when I was an APBA inspector I was on flag duty in the Formula pace boat. It was a 382. It ran good but was a little slow with HP500's back then. 75 was about all it would do and it knocked us around pretty good at times.

The Fountain running surface (pad) is probably more like 26-27*. Pads are great for speed but sacrafice a little comfort.

I'm not saying one is better than the other, it's just a matter of personal preference. If I wanted to take my buddies out and go fast I would take the Fountain. If I wanted to take the wife and her friends out I would take the Formula.

When I'm out in my 80+ mph Apache and it it's rough I seem to catch up and run with all the 100 mph boats. :drink:
