I'd stay away from thos V8 outboards especially that old. Hard to get parts for if you can even still get any.

Puuuuulease not more Fountain vs the world crap!

Hey Cig and Outer guys, how that kilo and race winning record coming along? :evilb: :drink:

Ok, hers my .o2. I like the hull but hate John, or Rude V8 ob's. And have never really been out in one but i assume its fairly heavy and rides like a dream.

I like Cigarette.......but they are seriously overpriced (most boats are anyways) Cig does make a great, solid boat. Older Cigs (non-step boats) take huge power to run any decent speeds, however, they are wave-crushers.

Fountains are nice and fast (the new 38 Fountain ran 115 on Merc 700's.....that is impressive :drink: ) but wouldn't be my 1st choice for rough water. The Fountains are definately fast....no denying that

For me, personally out of the 2 boats, I would get the Cig if you were running in any rough water and the Fountain for speed on water that doesn't get rough. I have a 33' PP (average speed for it's size/power) and use it mostly on a lake, but I still want to be able to go ocean boating and have a solid boat for the rough water. The lake (Havasu) can't even come close to challenge the boat.

I would stay clear of the old V8 300s they are trouble. My friend's boat had 3 of them on it and man carry your wrenches with you. he finally replaced them with 3 mercury 250s.

i have been told those old 300's are also EXTREMELY thirsty engines.

This is true... I had a 27' Eliminator Daytona with a pair of 3.6GT Johnsons... and it was THIRSTY!... but contrary to what others have posted here I owned the boat for 5 years & replaced one coil on one motor in all that time... never had a problem with either engine other then that... I could idle for houra at night, get up the next morning & fire them up and run 'em 6800 rpms all day... no problem.... two of the best motors I've ever had.....

BTW... I love reading about people that make comparisions between Bentley & RR's and other vehicles when my guess is they've never even sat in one
