All you would need is a Gold, Platinum, or VIP membership and considering the price I would say its pretty reasonable.

East coast racer guys should pester the Bahamian tourist office after the hurricane season. They seemed interested in doing a Ft. Lauderdale to Bimini run or another that duplicated the old races, but this spring they told me they are still in recovery mode from all the Damn Wind corkscrews that hit em, and did not want to do a race this year.

BTW thanks Steve and OSO for the shirt and DVD, nothing like value for membership...the wife took my OSO t-shirt and I will not likely get it back <gg> .

First of all, I would like to thank everyone for the overwhelming responses and positive feedback we are receiving on the Catalina Rum Run race.
As the President of POPRA, one of my dreams was to bring back the passion and excitement of true offshore racing. I would like to see offshore racing return to its roots when “offshore racing” actually meant “offshore”. I had to become the President of a racing organization to get my dream off the ground and here we go. We have a five-year plus plan with the City of Long Beach for this “real offshore” race.
I am also working with Powerboat Magazine to have a Manufacturer’s Cup presented at the Powerboat Awards ceremony along with a full-page story “bragging rights” in the magazine. So call your manufacturer and tell them to bring their baddest race boat to claim the title. If the manufacturers accept this challenge, POPRA will set-up their own start for the manufacturer’s class.
There is another Trophy up for grabs. It’s the Bob Nordskog Trophy for the fastest overall time. Every year this progressive Trophy would be handed down to the new winner.

maybe something like: our boats are now built different. lighter lay ups less freeboard for the new race courses. you need to give more time for us to prepare. just my 2cts but I cant wait to hear them :D

Hey Steve - Why don't you post that other rough offshore race to Bimini video that you have from '79...?

Since only "members" can view it and you aren't selling it, I don't think you would be violating any copyright laws - right?? Anybody else have any thoughts on this??
