off all summer. Our boating is all about being in the sun. Plus the detail of the paint make Speed Racer more desireable as a pleasure boat.
HOWEVER - If I was starting a race team. Rio Roses would do nicely.

I'm with you on that one bro.
but, most everyone agrees the whole Cat Killer deal was a marketing tool. Fountain chose to market a canopied raceboat vs. an open cockpit pleasure boat (no matter how fast it is) to increase sales.
Had he done that in one of his pleasure boats, (IE the poker run series 42, which I like), it would have been the option and far more impressive to most of the buying public.

Exactly.
Full canopied MTI raceboat (Bud Select or the like) vs. Rio Roses Raceboat
or
Open cockpit 42 Poker Run ( their fastest production boat?) vs. open cockpit Speed Racer
Apples to Apples.

No reason why he couldn't have done it that way either. He's got the $.
