Neither.... Money no object.. 52' Ocean Sportfish with huge tuna tower with a set of BIG Cats ... docked in Islamorada of course.

Re: Which boat would you rather OWN
Its really no question in the current configuration. Who wants to ride around in a canopied race boat sweating your  nuts  off all summer. Our boating is all about being in the sun. Plus the detail of the paint make Speed Racer more desireable as a pleasure boat.
HOWEVER - If I was starting a race team. Rio Roses would do nicely. |
Re: Which boat would you rather OWN
speed racers worth more right? :drink:

HOWEVER - If I was starting a race team. Rio Roses would do nicely. I'm with you on that one bro. but, most everyone agrees the whole Cat Killer deal was a marketing tool. Fountain chose to market a canopied raceboat vs. an open cockpit pleasure boat (no matter how fast it is) to increase sales. Had he done that in one of his pleasure boats, (IE the poker run series 42, which I like), it would have been the option and far more impressive to most of the buying public. |

Exactly. :drink: Full canopied MTI raceboat (Bud Select or the like) vs. Rio Roses Raceboat or Open cockpit 42 Poker Run ( their fastest production boat?) vs. open cockpit Speed Racer Apples to Apples. |

No reason why he couldn't have done it that way either. He's got the $. |

Re: Which boat would you rather OWN
speed racer is a work of art, Randy and Gary stray designed an unbelievable detailed boat with beyond show quality rigging, everything was custom on it, only boat so far close to it was the Mercedes MTI, not even a close comparison, smash the beak!
|
Re: Which boat would you rather OWN
speed racer
|
Re: Which boat would you rather OWN
My Pick would be Rio Roses only if Reggie was on board at all times. It would be a blast to hear him :D screaming quotes over the headsets like "let run those cat down". :D :D JK Speed Racer all the way
|
Re: Which boat would you rather OWN
Is this a trick question?
How much gold comes with Rio? |

Where did it end up ? That was such a fun boat. It is on Lake of the Ozarks now. A few of my buddies over there have seen it out. I hope the new owner enjoys it as much as I did. |
Re: Which boat would you rather OWN
I'd have to say neither also. Both are too big for the type of boating I enjoy. A 35-38 footer would be about the max for a go fast for me.
My 29' is easy to trailer dock and beach. That's not to say I wouldn't love to take a ride in both :D |

I have not been down to Banana Bend since the late 70's.... ahh the memories. At that time I was in a 18' Cobia w/ a 55 HP Evinrude that was as big as a house and smoked all day long...... things were so much easier then.... "Cindy" were are you now ????? |

You will not recognize some parts of the river, the floods of 94 and 98 destroyed about 150 homes at Banana Bend and another 50 were bought out. Much has changed and somethings never change :drink: Rio Villa is thriving again with new construction, albeit 20' in the air. |
