Tree Climbing Fountain spotted
2 Attachment(s)
This just as information to fellow OSO member.
Last year I did a Poker Run in Canada and talked to a gentelmen who had bought the Fountain that had climbed a tree down South after throwing it's operators. I saw the boat yesterday in a Montreal marina on the water it had been "repaired". Same paint. I did not have my camera so no pics. There are not many 42 Fountain's in the Montreal area and I am positive it was the boat, from the talk I had with the guy last year. So if someone gets a deal on it at least you are informed. Happy Fourth to all. |
Re: Tree Climbing Fountain spotted

Re: Tree Climbing Fountain spotted
Too bad nobody got the hull number. This way it could be posted for others to watch for.
I would never trust a hull that had that kind of extensive damage. I wouldn't care if the manufacturer repaired it. The original integrity has been lost. |
Re: Tree Climbing Fountain spotted
If the price is right someone will buy it... You know these fountain guys are all about price... :evilb: :evilb: :evilb: :D

Re: Tree Climbing Fountain spotted
Reggie heard that cats are supposedly the best tree climbers and he just had to prove'em wrong! :D

Re: Tree Climbing Fountain spotted
Some funnychit,But this is just a question. If Skater can take a
brand new hull cut it in half widen it,lower the deck and go race whats the problem with repairing this at the factory? Also the damage is way above the water line.I know this will start some kind of pizzing contest but I'm just wondering myself. People think nothing of getting a brand new car that cost 50-60K with 40K in damage repair and drive it like no tomorrow. |

Re: Tree Climbing Fountain spotted
When I talked to the guy last year, he had it in his possesion and was going to do the work himself.
I would imagine the boat was sent to the factory by the insurance company to get an evaluation... They must of sold it to him afterward to offset the costs of the claim, he mentioned he had to bid on it in an auction. I did not post this to slam any manufacturer I just posted this as information to people here on the site. |

From one of the threads covering the accident back in April 2004...

By Charmaine Smith Independent-Mail April 16, 2004 Anderson resident John Montgomery had his new boat on Hartwell Lake Thursday afternoon when things took an unexpected turn. The 42-foot speedboat ended its journey in a grove of trees with its stern on the ground and its keel split down the middle by a tree that cut through the bottom of the boat. Mr. Montgomery made a turn in the boat that caught him and his passenger off guard as they traveled near the Asbury Park boat ramp off Centerville Road. The sudden turn threw Mr. Montgomery and his passenger into the lake. But the boat kept going, state Department of Natural Resources spokesman Lt. Robert McCullough said. "The boat just shot up on the bank," he said. "The tree cut it down to the windshield. It almost cut the boat in half." No one was seriously injured, the wildlife officer said. He said Mr. Montgomery was issued a ticket for negligent operations. Lt. McCullough said Mr. Montgomery had the boat about five days and still was trying to learn how to use it. The boat’s kill switch, which should be hooked up upon launch, was not turned on that afternoon. If on, the switch would have cut off the boat’s motor when its passengers were thrown out.
