Congrats to Saber!!!
Congratulations to all the owners of the 41 Sabers! They made an unbelievable showing at this years SOTW! Especially on the 2nd run of the day when the waters really picked up. Can't wait to see the video of all 4 running next to each other getting big air and running strong! Last ones to leave, 1st ones in. Pretty impressive! Got me sold, time to build my 34 Saber.
Parn, Mike, Jerry and Mark, awesome job guys!! |
Re: Congrats to Saber!!!
what are the specs on the sabres, hp, beam, stepped or straight v, are they just really good in rough water, how do they compare with the Apaches?

Twin Staggered 1075 Mercs and 6's Twin Staggered 1200 Sterlings and 6's Twin Staggered 950 Chiefs and 6's Triple 900 Chiefs and 5's All straight bottom boats with 8' beams. The sotw video will give a pretty good indication on how they handle rough water as would the 22 people that rode with us. Apache? Ask Nykamp, he has one of the best Apache's ever made, Allez Vite, cause he rode in the 1075 boat. I believe he will tell you they ride comparable. :D The web site will be getting a significant update over the next sixty days. Look for a bunch of changes at Saber soon. NK |
Re: Congrats to Saber!!!
Congrats guys! It sounds like you guys finally got some big water on SOTW. I'll have to get a ride in one of those bad boys later in the Summer! :drink:

Re: Congrats to Saber!!!
Yep they did awesome at Smoke, and yes they ride just like an APACHE. I look forward to the up coming years from my Boys at SABER. I am going to be running next to 2 of the 4 this weekend at Boyne. Next year hopefully all 4 will be up there for the run, playing with me and Kemosabe and hopfully WARHWK.

Warhawk? I recall, even though you don't, that you renamed Warhawk Mr 99.9 at Kirby Saturday night. :drink: Krysta's contribution was as follows, " Steps, we don't need no stinkin steps" Fun partying with the Nykamps. NK |
Re: Congrats to Saber!!!
Hey Parn, if you are involved in anything, it will be done right. Or do I mean over-done. :drink:

Re: Congrats to Saber!!!
Cant wait to see the video. I watched the oso video and saw you guys milling around..its exciting cant wait to see the 47 halfbreed...:)

Re: Congrats to Saber!!!
man, wish I could sell those too, right now I could sell every manufacturer and not sell 1- sales are dead on performance boats, unless you want to lose money, just sell boats because love boating, most have asked me to rep their boats, wont be buying anymore new ones for sale, stick with real estate development.

Re: Congrats to Saber!!!
Hey Parn and Steve, nice to hear Poseidon was on the side of the BIG V's.

Re: Congrats to Saber!!!
Stormrider,
We were out playing around in Lake Michigan waiting for the poker runners to come by and it was awesome. The 4 - 41's ran together the entire second leg. It was fun to watch and all the folks in the 41's looked like they were having a blast. The video should be pretty sweet. Mr. Dietz would have been in his glory! |
Re: Congrats to Saber!!!
A question on the old Wicked Won Saber it had water pickups in the trim tabs what did these feed?
|
Re: Congrats to Saber!!!
ballast tank.....
|
Re: Congrats to Saber!!!
Ryan is the winner. Electric pump to empty and the trim tab hose to fill. Jim originally put it in because he didn't notch the transom and was worried about it being a little bow light. He then went with boxes and the rest is history. Never used the tank again and since the tabs aren't in the water at top speed he didn't remove it. NK

Re: Congrats to Saber!!!
Steve-
A little slick!!! No chit. I must have looked like a complete idiot at the marina Saturday crawling down the deck on all fours clinging to center rail just to hook a line on the front cleat.:D Parn - Thanks for the driving tips last week. Renae was pretty impressed with the improved ride and Saturday was a good day for figuring some things out. No tab + more throttle = more fun!!! |

By the way Parn, thanks for the driving lessons! --Mike Glad to see ya out getting after it. Makes the wait worth it I hope. Looking for my return ride in Last Mohican then I will buy the drinks. Plenty of rough water left. :drink: Jerry No quarter my friend just cause you are from out of state. Nice to see how ya adapted. Bet that right arm is a little beefier this week. I really wanted to get my South Haven card there at the end but I was running out of gas. I could have gone forever. Enjoy the LEOPA run and make us proud. :drink: NK |
Re: Congrats to Saber!!!
Glad to hear it Bill. Saturday would have been a get really wet day. Did you get a chance to take any pics when we went by? Thanks for letting me use your boat for my little show. See ya soon. NK

Re: Congrats to Saber!!!
I was with Parnell on the wildest ride of my life. I've been on a lot of poker runs, and I can honestly say that was the wildest, funnest ride I've had. I swear we were catching 100 ft air time. 80 mph in 2-4 ft waves was no challenge for Nauti Kitty (Dazu' Dahate')(Apache for "very fast").
And there were 4 of us together. I got a really good pic of one of the Sabers in the air. I'll post it from work tomorrow. Parnell is one of the best drivers I have seen, smooth and consistent, you da man,, Parn! I also want to publicly say THANK YOU for setting several members of my team into your boat on Saturday morning. They had a royal blast! Most had never ridden in a boat like that before, so they were really geeked out. It really meant a lot to me, you're a class act. |
Re: Congrats to Saber!!!
You and your crew are welcome anytime Mitch. Hope we made up a little for last years debacle. Should be some fun pics and video. Thanks for your help on the platform. NK
Carl We all would have loved to have seen Warhawk. Now that it's new with new power shouldn't you be boating a bunch? It's no longer and old resin bucket, it's a new resin bucket. Head north one of these days and call Steve. We will see ya at red dock. NK |
