Re: How safe is The Bahamas?
San Diego is having more and more unmanned boats run ashore at night as well.
My wife asks why we always carry when going out on the ocean
"Because fast offshore boats are made for two things, running contraband and helping guys get laid. Only one of the two plan on PURCHASING a boat to do it".

The Bahamian govt requires that you declare what weapons that you on board and the exact amount of ammunition. If they check you at a later time and a bunch of ammo is gone you may have some questions to answer. I have alot of buddies that run big sportfishers over there on a regular basis. A few have been approached by beater boats loaded with guys. They just stay on the gas and put guys in the cockpit with bats or gaffs. I had a buddy get chased outside of Walkers Cay for 15 miles while they tried to jump aboard (his boat is only 22 knots), he fended them off but was freaked out. I personally bring an AR-15 M4 and a Mossberg shotgun and a 40mm. Can never have enough protection. The ability to keep them at a distance is key and the AR will do that, in the event that they get close the Mossberg can work wonders and a handgun as last resort. I personally think that it happens very rarely especially now that the islands have so many US residents there on a daily basis. I guess this story shows that it only takes once to have a bad day..... Chilling....

So do the Bohemian officials typically give you any grief when you declare your weapons? I would hate to get over there, declare my weapons only to have them confiscated by some gov't official.

Joker, you still wanna take the big Fountain over with me? We can load that thing up with weapons and I've got plenty of room on the forward deck to mount a machine gun.

Yea Mike we're still going! We took a 9mm and declared it and they said nothing. So AR-15's , etc are ok huh? Street smart sounds like a good idea! A fast boat helps too! I'l learning and taking notes. Any particular places to stay away from?
