Fall Fun Run on Lake Champlain September 2nd 2006

3 Attachment(s)
We'll do a fun run on Sept 2nd on Lake Champlain.

Working on where we will stop right now, but it will start from Thayer Beach in Maletts Bay as usual at 1 PM. (Unless Byrdman takes to much time fixing my fuel leak again!)

Anyone who wants to join us is more than Welcome there are no fee and no organization, just a bunch of mooooks going for a nice week end ride!

Pic of the two "Moses" that brought their Ark for the spring run, and Byrman wrenching last year...

Im planning on coming up for the day. Sunday is a big party day on Lake George and can not miss that. Are you going to use the Turtle as home base again ??

Re: Fall Fun Run on Lake Champlain September 2nd 2006

Glad to see there's going to be one this fall.

Otis, I'd imagine we won't be using the Turtle due to the issues with the guy who runs the docks in front of the Turtle...too bad really.

Thinking I'll reserve a room to eliminate carrying all the camping gear in the rig...

Looking forward to seeing everyone.

OK need some input on the route...

Maybe Charlie will post for the second time!!!

We will leave from Mallets Bay...

Who wants to go South like Westport and end back in Burlington?

Or Head north and have lunch in Rouses Point at Light House Marina?

I'd vote rouses point, closer for me...

I have to add I would not mind south anyway...

Re: Fall Fun Run on Lake Champlain September 2nd 2006

South.

Malletts Bay - Willsboro - Essex - Westport - Burlington.

The last leg should sort things out if there are any doubts left...

You asked,

Me and the guy that manages the docks had some words. The owner of the turtle told me that if I'm not welcome at the docks, I'm not welcome at the turtle. Part of the problem is that I think he is mistaken me for someone who was rude to his employees two years ago. You know who I'm talking about, but I'm not going to throw out any names. It is too bad, I like the turtle, but for the two times a year I'm up there it isn't worth kissing their ass. The guy who runs the docks is rude to everyone, including good regular customers of the turtles here on this board. Rico at the Lighthouse Marina would bend over backwards to have that kind of money spent in his establishment.

The Wyndham Burlington on the Lake is NOT accepting reservations for Sat. only. You must reserve Fri. and Sat.

Guess I'll crash in the rig.

Made reservations this am for a slip at Breakwaters for Sat. night.

Re: Fall Fun Run on Lake Champlain September 2nd 2006

So where should I launch. Keep in mind I have never boated on this lake and know nothing about it. The Turtle and the launch near it are the only two places that I know about.

I wont need a slip as I am pulling back out right after the run to get back to LG and our Log Bay Cristmas party and parade on the lake

Bob, Peru dock would probably be your best bet.

-Mooney Bay to Lighthouse Point Marina... http://www.marinalighthouse.com/restaurant2.html ...Where Rico will have us for a late lunch he has saved docking space for the whole bunch.

-After Lunch little ride back to Burlington or Mallets for who wants to put back on the trailer for a party starting at Breakwaters Saturday PM.

Milage is roughly 33 Miles from Thayer to Rouses Point and 42 miles back to Burlington...

Convenient NYS launches include Westport which is approx. 10 min from exit 31 I87, Port Douglas which is approx. 15 min from exit 33 I87, and Peru Dock which is approx. 15 min from exit 35 I87.

Personally Bob I think Westport would be your best bet. At the end of the run you and the Lake George crew could put a little gas, if necessary, (premium at breakwaters) in your rigs when the run ends in Burlington then make the straight shot to Westport. Round trip from Westport to the Peru Launch you'll probably save about an hour and 15 minutes of trailering.

Yeah I do most of my boating in the NY Harbor, and been down in the Delware Bay and upper Chesepeak too. Just figured I'd ask before jumping on it. Now to figure out where to launch, on the NY side I'll check out the spots listed in the above posts.
