Default Dodged a bullet!

Coming back from an awesome day of boating a couple nights back and running about 3500 rpm...

Oil pressure alarm goes on while I see the oil pressure needle start going down.... I immediately shut the engine down (like my mechanic and engine guys have trained me to do over the years by invoicing me for my previous indiscretions!) and have a look under the hatch... It freanking looks like a murder scene in there, oil all over the back of the transom and underneath the hatch.

Meanwhile I am put-putting back to the ramp on one engine, Niel/DPT circles back to see what happened, I tell him to go on his merry way that I have lost oil pressure in one mill and will make my way slowly to the ramp...

He says "check the sender!!!"... Obviously he did not see the gore-fest under the hatch!

I taught a main seal or something like that and was minding myself for an engine pull-out and everything.

My mechanic calls me today and says the oil pressure alarm sender cracked and spewed oil all over the place... Changed the sender filled the motor with oil and back in business... First time in my boating life that something looked so ugly and did not cost up to it's look.

Caught a little luck I guess.

Happened to a good friend of mine two years ago at Tickfaw. Radio was too loud and did not hear alarms. Very short trip for him.

Had the samething happen to me when I had my Scarab. Never lost oil pressure but when I got back to the dock I had 7 qts of oil in the bildge.

fast forward a couple years and the bracket that holds the oil cooler breaks out in some rough water, sheered one of the fittings clean.... well,,, I didn't catch that one....
