not sure why you should beware of fountain on issues like that. these are not problems caused by a defective product. you should get a survey reguardless of brand

Seems that a guy from Andover, Ohio was recently at a poker run up on Lake Erie bragging up a storm about the 35' Fountain he purchased in Minnesota with no motors and drives. As it turns out the Fountain he bought was a salvage hull that had been sunk and submerged. The hull had a gaping hole in it on the starboard side and a prior owner had it repaired in Canada. The transom was sealed up wet inside and 572's were slapped in it. Seemed to me that this guy was happy cutting corners to run with the big dogs and above all he said when he sells, he wants top dollar for his underwater sea runner... Now ain't that a bargain???????

I have one.
I knew a guy who's brother's nephew had a neighbor friend that worked at his cousin's plant who bought a used car from a dealership "As is" (like most used boats right) and there was past body damage repair done!!!!

obviously Fountain is doing things reasonably well, we all see a lot of them out there. They are not my personal first choice, but come on, they build a nice boat, and if they were not sound, they would not have a bizillion of them around....
sounds like maybe sour grapes?
However the comment about a survey is very valid.......
