With a budget of $100K, the list of what is available is VERY long. Do you want a single engine or twins?

My opinion is buying a year or so old/low hour boat. You will get a lot more boat and have change left over. If you like Formula, you can get a 271 for ~$50-60K. A 292 or a 312 for less than $100K. Check out Magicfloats dealer site.

I forget what year Formula changed its measuring system. Back in the late 80's or early 90's. The 272's were 29' LOA.

The 5 year warranty deal can't be beat. Its in the price, but worth it. Magicfloat has a new 382 with 600SC's, with it. It includes EVERYTHING, boat/motors/drives.

probably a typo, but if you're looking at velocity's, you wanna go for the 280's or the 290sc. The 260 is actually a 24' boat.

That being said. If I were looking to spend 100k used, i'd be looking at larger boats in the 32-35' range. But if you're looking 28, the Active thunder 28 is a big 28 and would probably be my choice.

I love my velocity, but you'd be able to pick one up for 50k easy. Maybe you can save yourself some money :D

I definately agree, you can buy alot of boat for 100K in todays market. There are alot of clean boat that can be had, just do a survey. I would also suggest that you look at Active thunder, Pantera and Sunsation. If it were me and I had a 100K to play with I would be shopping for a 35 Cig Cafe Racer or a 38 Cig Top Gun.

I think you need to decide how fast you want to go.
How much room you need.
What kind of ride to you want. Lake boat vs. True offshore boat.

Good luck in your search. To me thats half the fun of boating is shopping for a new one. I have owed 2 28 footers in the last year :D

- A short list of those I've initially considered: 27' Fever; Velocity 260; Formula 271; 26' Prowler. I've also heard decent stuff about the Formula 271.

I know when I think og entry level performance boat, i think of 548" supercharged engine and a confined cockpit I cant manuver around in incase i need to jump up and get some dock lines.


Out of your list, i like the formula. also check out Donzi, ZR and ZX. Single 496 would be a good starting engine package, and has a long warranty which will help with a fast resale in a year or 2 when you want to step up to something bigger and faster.

Where are you boating? Ocean? lake, s. fl. Need room for family/friends? Do you need a cabin? or would an open bow be better so you can cruise to shooters with a bunch of friends?
