Re: Humor me - "Budget" rebuild
Swamp - I'l probably get blasted for this but.....
Have you considered ZZ572/620's? Yes, there are a few things you'd need to do/change on them to marinize. But they are full of good parts, and they will be new. Just a thought |
Re: Humor me - "Budget" rebuild
Thanks all for your responses and for "humoring" me. The goal is not to go 60 mph with these motors. The boat is a big heavy cruiser and probably should be diesel but with the arnesons and the right props I should be able to cruise at 35-38 mph all day and top out in the high 40s at WOT. With more reliable motors with another 100 HP each I should be in good shape to run the motors at 65% or 75% instead of at 95% and kill them.
I think I am going to keep my eyes open for some new 502 or larger cu inch long blocks and move my stuff over to them. It will require that I make transmission changes since one of my motors is counter rotating and will probably change the ratios to 2:1 at that time (they are 1.53:1 now). Not sure if this link will work - picsof project: http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/orenar.../ph//my_photos Kidnova - that kind of marinizing is probably over my head...but thanks |

Re: Humor me - "Budget" rebuild
