What happend today is a horrific tragedy and my prayers are with all of those invloved.

My question to everyone is:

All of the awful tragedies that have occurred over the last 2 years have one common thread... EXTREME SPEED (100mph+) What can we all learn from this and how can we change poker runs to help make them safer before they all get shut down??

I have been a poker run producer for 9 years and have never advocated speed limits. I do think it is time for us to put a limit on speed or for pace boats to be used for the entire duration of a poker run. I would like to hear other people's thoughts on how can we make our sport safer?

I was on the lake today and was taken by surprise by the number of boats and the speed with which they came down the islands - I remember seeing both of these boats at excessive speed and they were upon us and other boats with minimal warning. I am a seasoned boater and could tell something tragic was about to happen.

God bless them.

Now is not the time to speculate. Do you have ESP? "something was about to happen"????

Lets stop right now. There will be plenty of time for comments.

Thanks, some people are just plain ignorant to other greiving people's losses. Our prayers go out to all the involved families. This is truely a terrible loss.

tee4texas, I want to reiterate what buyafountain.com said.

What you're saying right now is irrelevant and poorly timed. I was out there and although I won't go into all the speculation and detail that may have been obvious, I think that as facts are made public, you may learn that a disasterous mechanical failure may just be at the core of what happened.

But that's not what is important right now. Lives were lost.
