What year Excursion do you have? I just added the Firestone Bags to mine and it was a huge difference. I didn't even think about a bar. Did you change the front bar too?
Mine is a 2004 with the PSD 4x4. I am pulling a OLD 38 Staggered Cigarette on an aluminum Myco. The only thing I really ever notice is the front shimmy when I hit freeway dips and ridges. My boat weighs in at 12,500 plus the trailer.
Amen on towing without motors and drives! I pulled mine home from Phils like that and it was miserable. It squashed the truck.
