Saber Powerboats

Great Looking and performing powerboats. The owners are Offshore enthusiasts, great guys and contributing OSO members. I don't know what it takes for them to get their own forum, or if it is at all possible, but I feel they deserve it.
It would honor OSO.

Re: Saber Powerboats

I seem to recall the idea being floated and dismissed not too long ago. Probably due to the low number of them.

On the other hand, how many Platinums, Dragons or Chiefs have been built?

Re: Saber Powerboats

If extreme and phantom can have their own forums, so should Saber.
Maybe if saber would just advertise?

And Adrenaline... 2-3 boats made... both for sale..
and they advertise.

IMO, it doesnt get much more offshore than SABER.

I am working on this but I want some advertising, a new updated web site setup and most importantly new products to discuss before I get this done. I am sure Steve will not have a problem with this since Saber has made more boats than Cheif, Platinum and Dragon combined. Maybe no one knows this but Saber has produced almost 50 boats and plenty more are coming soon.
We will have a bunch of announcements before the Ft Lauderdale boat show and I anticipate a lot to talk about very soon. In the mean time lets fly. :drink:
Thanks NK

I wonder how many sabers there are here , I know of a half dozen anyway.. Its an apache pop so It would seem the apache forum would suffice ? :drink: JK

I had the pleasure of running with the Sabers at RHCs run this spring {tried to :D }...Bad azz offshore for sure !

Re: Saber Powerboats

It's really not an Apache pop. It's out of a legally purchased Apache mold with a modern layup schedule. When's the new 47 going to be finished? :D

Being a Saber owner I would love to have a saber section, honestly I thought there would be one on here already and I scroll down every once in a while to check, but none yet!!!

I think Saber is going to become a force to recon with on the offshore circuit before too long. Let's get them a forum! It will be fun to watch em' grow!

I can't wait untill we get our own forum, As I am probably the newest owner of a Saber. Oh yeah the 28 is an original design
which as we all know is a little uncomon in this biz. too say the least. I can't wait to power it & set it in the water next spring. ( hopefully )

I remember a Saber article in Powerboat or Boating Mag almost 15 yrs ago. Things looked promising back then, it would be nice to see things take off!

Who remembers their ad way-back-when, "85 for 85" - a 28' w/ twin BB (465's I think?) for $85k, guaranteed to do 85mph. What I'd give for that deal today on a new one!!! :D

$85k, no way, but i bet you could get a great deal on one...better than you'd think.

550 ilmors w/ konrads.

Re: Saber Powerboats

Nothing against Saber but they don't do much of a job at getting their name out there or promoting their products.

Having never tried before I Googled them and found their website. It told me virtually nothing about them or the boats they build. Certainly not enough to pursue them building a quarter-million dollar boat if I were shopping.

Think the Sabers really opened up some eyes during the SOTW run this year. Plus the display they had on Friday before the run was cool. A woman I worked with in the late 80's said to me one day that her cousin was starting a boat company. Never gave it much though till we dropped by one day back when they were in Comstock Pk, Mi. ... I thought she said sailboats! Haven't been to the Coopersville shop since they were building the WW boat so if there is an open house in the future count me in. 20yr aniv. this year?

Pics from the Smoke land show, and NK sure got some looks few weeks ago in Saug. Cove. Beautiful Boat.

Chris... this post explains it.
The Geelheods(sp?) were not into marketing. Now the business begins.
BTW, you would never check out their website.
You'd either know of Saber from this site or from someone who has one. They are virtually unknown, especially outside their home turf. Hopefully not for long.

Why would you want the company to grow .. We all know what happens when boat companies get too big for there briches .. Small custom builders put out a better product period.

Re: Saber Powerboats

I'm not that bright, but reading between the lines, it sounds like Parnell is now involved and will take the company to the next level.
The boats all look fantastic!
I can't wait to see the 47'....
and, um, would be happy to "crew" anytime :D

Best of luck to all involved !

Agreed, but to a point.
They are not looking to be a mass manufacturer.
6 28s
2 34s
3 41s
1 47

That would be a great year for Saber.
And would still be a small custom builder.
How many OLs are built a year? How many MTIs?
I think in the past Saber rarely put out more than 1 boat a year.

Anyone know when the last 28 was built?

You are being kind to say " they don't do much of a job"
The last 10 years it would probably be more acurate to say they did nothing, except to make a few fast boats. Problem is so did everyone else. NK

Agreed.. I had no idea they were producing 1 a year ..However , one would think they would have already grown, increased production if the demand was there ?

Saber's last 28 built was in 1995. When they bought the Apache mold in 1996 they began concentrating on that, which was very time consuming and allowed them only enough time to build a few of those (4) and a 34 (1).

There is a pending deal, already negotiated and signed, to bring partial new ownership into the mix. This will bring new marketing, new capitol and new production goals along with 4 new models of boats. When this deal closes at the end of this month everyone should see an excelerated presence for Saber Marine. Same quality with updated interiors, paint and marketing. They have always had great quality and they are some of the best riding boats in the industry. We just plan on letting more people know and building more boats for everyone to see. For the first time ever we have three boats on order and a nice list of potential customers waiting on me to get my stuff together. We have also formed a marketing agreement with a prominent West Michigan marina allowing us the ability to have trades involved in future transactions.
Several board members are joining the sales team to sell our products and we are looking forward to a very busy winter. If anyone has any questions please feel free to give me a call. 616-437-3852 Parnell

Re: Saber Powerboats

I remember a 28' saber - yellow/black that always put in at Rossford marina in Toledo area back in '98 or so named Buzzin' Bye. I think he used to, or may still be a member here. I loved that boat, but was pretty new to the whole performance boating game, and hadn't spoke with him much.

I'd love to own a 28 now, beautiful boats.

Saber deserves thier own section.

Nauti Kitty 09-12-2006 06:04 PM

Re: Saber Powerboats

Buzzin Bye was originally a LEOPAJM boat, one of many Sabers he has owned and Dan now has a 38 Top Gun He has gone to the dark side but maybe some day we can save his soul. :D

BTW Thanks Rob NK
