Re: 28 Tuff

Rough water... It's not that simple. The biggest contributing factor for rough water in a Vee is 'straight line keel length' to be able to span the waves. Other things like a sharp entry vee to part the water, weight and dead-rise have more of an effect on how the boat feels in the rough. The TUFF 28 and 21 are designed to ride more like a cat, up high, not falling into the depth of the waves but more on or over the top. When the water gets really big than the sharp entry vee should smoothen out the frontal assaults. At this point a heavy boat 'feels' better but does not necessarily go faster. Also an extremely rigid hull (like 3/4 in vacuum bagged balsa core) make the ride 'feel' better.

You start to trade off comfort for more performance at some point. To me, the fastest rough water boat for it's length is the one with the longest straight keel, the lightest and very strong and with the perfect balance. This kind of boat will require the greatest amount of skill to operate and is not for everyone.

So the answer... how is the TUFF 28 in the rough... If I did my job than it's up to the driver how good it is.

Thanks Tuff. And I forgot to ask what is the deadrise of the 28? Do you have a number where I can reach you? Do you have hours over the weekend? A little tough to call 9-5 during work week?

Thanks.

Randy

Yeah,... Someone told me that when they looked for me on the web all they found was those fine aluminum boats and proceeded to buy else where.
So for the record I'm " TUFFmarine.com " on the web and 'TUFFboat' on OSO. Thanks for pointing that out Joker.

rtaylor, Call me 519-240-9010 anytime during the day, weekend too.
