If that's not a chance you want to take stay at Kelley's. |
Re: cleveland boating and stuff
Not that I think anyone on this board would do this.....
The PIB police walk the docks frequently with their dope-sniffing dogs and they do board and search unoccupied boats. Tourism is their biggest (only) revenue generator and the PD is one of their largest. Open containers, peeing on bushes, public intox are all expensive mistakes. |

If we do not sure where we're staying. We have some friends at Marina Del Rey (I think that's what it's called) and we like Portside at Kelley's. |

OK. First-hand experience. Hit the trifecta, as a matter of fact. Some years back, though. Youthful indiscretion. It's actually quite amusing to sit out front of the PIB jail on a warm summer evening. Kind of like going to a a lve filming of COPS. |

We will look for you guys...I have never spent the night at Kelly's...we have always stayed at PNB. What is the night life at Kelly's like?
Is there a boat show on Sunday? If so, who is putting it on? |
Re: cleveland boating and stuff
My wife and I and another couple are going to Sanduskey for the weekend and last I heard was we are thinking about taking the ferry to PIB for the day on Saturday and on Sunday we are going to the boat show. I"ll look to see if I can recognize any ones boats and maybe meet some of you.

Re: cleveland boating and stuff
we have pretty much set our plans, On Saturday we will put in at Lake Erie Metro Park in Gibraltar and head to Middle Bass Island, we plan to dock overnight at their yacht club, Sonny's water taxi runs between PIB and MB until 1:00 AM ($5.00 each way) which leaves plenty of time for partying plus we might check out St Hazzards http://www.sthazards.com/ Sunday around 11 we will head for Kelly's Island to the Casino and all the other:drink: attractions. If you want to try to catch up with us PM me your cell number and I will send you mine back. Looks like it is going to be one of the last nice weekends so hopefully everyone enjoys it.

Re: cleveland boating and stuff
We ended up at PIB Yacht club on our friends boat with a last minute spur of the moment decision to go. We had an awesome time.
Sorry we didn't have your number 245Limited. We made it to Kelley's on Saturday and had a great time. Saturday night at PIB was fun. We did see a few friends there and it was a great time. Donna/Ian, sorry we missed you guys. We had to get back to Mentor in order for our friends to attend a wake Sunday afternoon. It was a great way to celebrate the last weekend of Summer 2006. :evilb: :drink: :D |
Re: cleveland boating and stuff
We had a good but stressful weekend. Just when we were about to pull out of the driveway on Saturday, Ian discovered a problem with the ignition, all which seemed to indicate a bad fuel pump. Of course no one around here stocks the one we needed, after a zillion calls he finally jumped in the car and drove all the way to Columbus, OH to Jeggs. The trip was about 3.5 hrs each way and he wound up driving through the middle of an Ohio State Game :D It was to late to install on Saturday so he was up bright and early Sunday morning. Unfortunately after all that it was not the fuel pump  More investigation led to a crossed wire in the main dash panel. That fixed we proceeded on our 1.5 hr journey to the boat launch, well we had problems there as well, no fuel going to the starter, so after some panic and investigation it turns out he had left the cap on. Now we finally start out for the 40 mile trek to Kelly's for the worlds best Bloody Mary. The waves are pretty big at first so the rest of the LEOPA crew that were going to run with us decided to head in the other direction. Now on our own, we head towards the islands, we decide to take the route on the south side of PIB in quest of calmer water, we are not that familiar with that route and our GPS screen was all most impossible to read in the glare. Excited that we finally arrived we made our approach looking for the Casino, only to find out we were at Cataba Island :D After regrouping Ian figured out where we were and shortly after that we arrived at our destination and saw the smiling face of Race Girl and Roger waving to us from the Tiki Bar, finally at last I had what I will from now refer to as my $500.00 Bloody Mary. I also found out what Mr P is willing to go through for what was probably our last day on the lake this year.

Re: cleveland boating and stuff
We will keep that in mind if we need one. Our problem however was just a simple case of some old wires that caused a shot, a problem that could have cost no money. So now we have a new fuel pump and the old, which was pretty old anyway as a spare.
Dean where are you located it does not show under you user name |

Re: cleveland boating and stuff
Ms P,
We just missed you guys. You were just arriving when we were leaving. You had to back out for one boat leaving and we were the second one that came out. Very nice boat...sorry to hear about the problems...we would love to have met you guys and RG as well. We did end up staying at PIB Saturday night and headed to Kelly's about noon on Sunday. It was a great last weekend! We headed to the boat show when we left Kelly's but no one could tell us where we could slip the boat so after about 25 minutes we just pulled out. Maybe we can get together next year! |

Re: cleveland boating and stuff
Your right...the lake was pretty nice for our last run. I am pretty bummed out that the boating season is over. There is probably a couple more weeks around here for some, but we are leaving this weekend for vacation in Italy, so we are pretty much done. It was a great weekend to go out on though. I will try to hook up with you guys in the spring!
