I upgraded from 3's to 6's on my Apache- started 16 months ago and still not done. Got busy with work and finding a college for my son. Maybe this winter...

The more I do, the more I find that I can re-do. It's turned into pretty much a re-rig.

My 24' Skater has been down since 4th of July with a blown powerhead. The block is getting welded.

I Did A Head And Cam Change At The End Of May Ran The Boat For 20 Mins And Blew It Total Rebuild And Replace 1 Head And 4 Valves. I Need To Put The Fuel Pump And Balancer Back On And Should Drop It Back In The Boat This Weekend.

Restored an Alfa Romeo once. 2 year project, drove it finished for less than 1,000 miles and sold it a year later for 1/2 of what I had into it.

Then a friend tells me: Don't ever start a restoration unless you have all the parts available, the time blocked off in your schedule and the money you will need to finish it.

That sealed the deal for me, now I just pay to get it done so I can spend my free time using the toy rather than restoring/fixing it. If I have something broken and it is in the shop ASAP to get it fixed. When I was reading about Gino's bad luck (Lube Jobs) I actually laughed because he is like me, the day he got back he is getting stuff fixed rather than being upset about it.

2+ yrs - Got a diesel that overheated - Had it completely gone through - now won't turn up the rr's no matter what.

5 head Volvo techs later - and all I hear is - "It should run!"

Hurt my motor in 1000 islands. Motor is out of boat and I am waiting for diagnosis. I am trying to sell the boat so right now the plan is to rebuild the motor and sell it w/ or without the boat. If the boat doesn't sell then I will just have to sell the motor and go bigger HP :D

Missed 2 summers, so far..... full restoration/custom, all that I am re-using is the hull and deck.

I just got My Python running after like five years!! It was a project from Hell.Two years at one shop and then eight months at another and then two months at the upholstery shop.I rerigged the entire boat , built a new dash and windscreen.

this is gonna be my second winter going into the 3rd yr now working on my stinger....if it wasnt for house work i would have been done a few months after i got the boat :(

I pulled the engine last September to put in new stringers, floor and transom. The boat is still upside down in the driveway while I work on the bottom. So it's only been one year, so far.

I was down 1.5 years....Have a carrier bearing doing now so I'm done for the year...Did have 3 fun months though !

On and off for almst a year and a half (More off than on) switched mechanics and should be back on the water in a week. And the boating season in Havasu is 365 days.

I try and have something in the water as the season is quite short up here. I keep a old bass boat at my dads place so he can use it ..but if im down its there :D

Even the Jinxed Minx is now running right. Third engine in three years. I gave it a new interior I was so happy. :)

4 years and almost done 1 transom 3 engines transom assembly 2 outdrive. The guy doing my interior died with the seats sewed but not put on. the front seats are in and the reare will be in this winter, All I will lack is the pin stripes gotta love a good project

5 years.... have all the major components ready, doing a seal /bearing/brake job on a used myco i recently purchased.

then it 's getting the cigarette on and strapped..

when that's done and ready to go i am calling Guardado marine to get me a spot in the shop for after the worlds to have the blueprint/ re-gel of the bottom done ...

LOL :D . . . . it actually did sink sunday and i was even out of town in Maryland racing at Ocean City. some GOOD friends of mine went and rescude it. water was about 4 inches form taking completly down, it was over the motors and in the cabin :eek: my buddies got it pumped out, pulled the boat, put it on the trailer and dried out the motors. i took it from there when i got home. you have no idea how horrible it felt getting a call from my friend saying he was heading to the yacht club he just got a call that my boat was sinking. i owe these guys big time!

11 years now,Motor has been in 10 years.Put boat in the water to go for a ride last year and the Fish and Wildlife said put it on the trailer and get some mufflers or get a ticket, and that was at the ramp.

Took the interior apart because i let some upholstery guy talk me into letting him redo it.He turned into a scumbag and i had to get the police in order to get my seat and bolster shells back.So it sits with no interior and back under the tarp it goes.My 14 old son was looking at it out at my buddies where i store it and asked if it was ever going to see water.Maybe if i move it out in the rain.

A divorice and living in a condo doesn't help either.

When I was little my dad had a project boat that lasted several years until I got old enough to figure things out and I finished it. I bought mine a 93 nova spyder that was left outside uncovered with 83 hours on it. It took 2 full days in 90 degree heat of wet sanding and buffing just getting it to look good. The second thing was have a cover made then I ran the rest of summer like that and then got into it over the winter installed a new bravo 1 and prop, new floor and whole new int including building a complete rear seat and all new trailer tires, spare, brakes etc. Last fall pulled motor and spiced it up add new auto meter gauges, depth finder, halon system re-gel- coated bilge area, added new trim pump and motor. I have replaced everything on the boat it looks and runs new I get complimented everywhere I have taken it. In a couple of weeks I am going to take it off the trailer to paint the trailer then she will be done and I haven't lost any boating time
