You might want to call Hydromotive. Their 4 blades spinning out really woke up my straight bottom 311 Formula. Joe Murray

The answer is no. You can do a half conversion if your Gimbals are good. We did that for a customer with a 24 Pantera. The only drawback is that you are restriccted to using the smaller stock size u joint instead of the full size Spicer joint that Konrad uses.

I did the conversion on my 85 38 Cigarette and love the drives.
I did have a problem getting on plane with the raised X-dimension.

With My trs's I could turn 25 Mirages 5100 Rpm. with 550hp each. I usually ran 24 Hydromotives at 5000rpm's

I could barely get the boat on plane if it was rough out with 24 Hydro' and 26 Bravo's Until I put a 1"spacer and lowered the drive back down. Then it would jump on plane and the prop was more efficient. The raised x did not help my boat at all.

I took the spacers out this year and ran a 25 P5X the boat came on plane easily in any kind of water but was not as efficient as they were with the spacers.

Next year I am putting the spacer back in so I can run the 4 blade or the 5 blade props.

I am not sure what you mean (LOFTY) about the U Joints. I did the half conversion and ordered directly from Konrad and they came with the large Konrad U joints and they intsalled fine. the only thing I had to do was change the trs bellhousing which comes with the half conversion. The whole setup can be installed in less then an hour for each side with 2 people.

Lofty, what i meant by that is that its nice to see members helping each other out. Especially if its getting a deal on uprading to konrads!

Cigrocket... did your engines dyno at 650-675?
Spinning 25mirage+ @ 4900rpm seems kinda low if
Mr Cigs 38 spins the 25mir @5100 w/ 550hp.

Rev Limiters are set at 5000 RPM's. I was always trying to save the TRS Drives. With the Konrads I am going to spin them to the 5400 RPM. I still was seeing 72-73 MPH in any condition with the 4800. Fast for a heavy... heavy.....heavy mistress.

Thanks for clearing that up for me...
I'm psyched for you... and now i get to add another boat to my local wants list now that you'll have THE drives to have imo.

You figuring you'll be running close to 80mph?

honestly I am thinking it will probably be more like 76-77. I am being realistic. I have such a nice cruising speed now, that I am looking for that same quality. It is going to take some prop testing

No problem and thanks, just didn't know what you where getting at. I'd love to see all the Bravo and TRS boats with these drives so folks could do more boating and less time on the trailer.
