Default Need Recommendation of High Perf Designer for Refit Mods

First Post
A question for the "High Perf Pros.";"People in the Business"; or those who have done an extnsive Project on this site.

Who would be a good performance oriented designer to contact if you wanted to modify a V (different bulkheads, tankage, extended integral platform and modernized windscreen).

Looking for someone who is light weight oriented and knows their way around the structural requirements of the old stuff.

The V in question is a 42 Excaliber Eagle -

I don't know where you are willing to go, but......
Guardado Marine in Opa-Locka, FL would be where I
would go...they've fixed and modified a lot of boats.

I agree. I have not used them, but I have heard lots of good stuff about Guardado.

Sorry for the lack of replies - Don't know if anyone will see this

Just back from the Ft. Lauderdale show - - it was magnificiant

The Project
It is a 1986 42 Excaliber and is a great medium speed cruising platform for family activites (40-45mph cruise 55-59 top speed). The hull by modern standards is largely obsolete and it may worth more parted out than whole

It is apart due to a broken motor (540 tall deck which siezed -connecting rod ). Its been a while since the last re-build so . . . both motors came out (will freshen other so they are an equivalent vintage)

While its a freshwater boat for the last 10 years - - the first 10 years were salt (New Jersey or Philadelphia area I believe)

The TRS Drives while dependable show significant corrosion which is why they came off too. The Drives bring their own set of decisions stay with TRS go to Bravo etc.

The Transom is not rotted, but is moist, so the tentative decision is to replace while the boat is apart. The cockpit sole is also moist and should be replaced

The central part of the project is to:
A) Make the back porch closer to the water, larger (4x8) and more conducive to watersports
B) Increase the fuel capacity for longer distance cruising
C) Maybe change the Cockpit layout to more of a flat floor layout from front to back (ala the Formula 400SS)

So I need a designer for the integrated platform design and fuel tank placement / reinforcement and flat floor.

Not Looking for anything esoteric just simple guidance from a pro on core and lamination layup, location of supplemental tankage or modification in the Existing tank location. Have a fantastic shop doing the glass work near Lake St. Clair Mich

The ideal designer would be somebody who has been around the Vintage Cig, Scarab Race Hulls and knows where you can place things and how much reinf you really need - - not looking to build an Icebreaker or 50 year durability - - prefer as light as possibe

There a couple of other mods in mind - - like moving the genset but thats enough for now

The other question (Drive Selection) - - if one is just cruising in the 45-55 mph range would Bravos live. I know everyone is universally down on Bravo's but is that due primarily to leave the water high speed athletics
