How about we take your boat to the Navasink this weekend and go knock on Brett's door to see if he wants to take his Outerlimits out for a ride.

This way I can shoot pics of your Activator and Brett's Outerlimits all in the same day !!! :drink:

I'll haul it up there too !!!

Waterfront Cafe should be OPEN for a little lunch afterwards.... :evilb:

What time are we leaving ??? :D

First off there's a lot less traffic on the Navesink and Sandy Hook Bay. Sandy Hook Bay will allow for some excellent WOT runs! Then if the bay get's boring (it usually does in the Apache) and there is a need for some action just go round the hook and play in the ocean!

I'd recommend stopping at the Windansea on the way back in and hanging out at the Tiki Bar rather than the Waterfront. It's cool at the Waterfront just cause you're hanging out at the marina but the service, entertainment and food is less to be desired...you may also be surprised when you get the bill for a couple beers and a hamburger....

Whenever you're in the area let me know and we'll get together! :drink:

It would be nice if we could have a poker run in the area.... Mr._V, would you be game for helping me arrange this?? We could do an ocean, bay and river course. Card Stops could be Windansea, the Bulkhead, Roamer Shoals (or Paddy McGees in LI) and final party at the Navesink!

Panther,
If your serious about setting up some type of "Fun run" (less liability) like this for next season, let me know I would be glad to help out. :)

Thanks, I'm need to look into it to find out what is involved!

If we do as a fun run than that would be easy since we've been doing one for the past 10+ years, a PR would be more fun though! ;)

Understand what you mean about "No Fear"

I lived most of my life in Oceanport until I moved to Boston.
Did a lot of my boating on the Navesink and Shrewsbury Rivers. Still do when I get back there .
Thank you

I ran the BIG SEAS in a 27 Magnum at the Atlantic City War Offshore in 1988. Could have used more boat that day!

Now can you imagine being in a 13 foot vee hull running up to NY Harbor?

I passed that Coast Gaurd Sailing Ship and the crew there were just shaking their heads as I went by..... :evilb:

Tim , I still look at the pics and vid we took off long branch pier like 18 years ago and shake my head! I was so glad to see them on your web site! That little 13 took some rough water! On this day the JS and Hydro races were cancelled , white caps on the navesink , but we took the bullet out and threw up some roost!

Sharkey-

Thanks for the pics...felt like I was home again. I grew up in Fair Haven just off River Road. In fact, I tried to date the rich Rumson girls that lived on the river so I could ride in their parents boat!!

My grandparents used to have a slip in Red Bank at the marina that sold the bayliners (can't remember the name) and we used to put in at River Rats (Batten Road Ramp in Fair Haven). Of course, Barnacles was my favorite place to eat and when I was younger, we would jump off the Oceanic bridge after a few too many at Donavan's or Ichabod's. That current was strong - I always jumped to the side :)

Funny that this post made me think how cool it would be to have my boat out there running today. I now live in Virginia and take the Chesapeake down to the Bay and into the ocean around Cape Henry however, I never thought about doing the same back home as Panther outlined.

You boys need to find an excuse to get me back there. All my boys still live in Rumson and space is usually not an issue in a Rumson house :)

You're thinking of Irwins that sells the Bayliners.

Panther wants to do a run up here, hope we can find a place that can dock all the boats. Things are getting tight, lost another marina (Mariners Emporium) to condo developers. Pretty soon its gonna be like FL and unless you own waterfront you won't find a place to keep your boat....at least a place that is affordable.

I hear you on the condos...I remember when they took Tradewinds a feww years back - isn't that condos now?

Also, isn't Asbury Park also getting eaten up with development as well?

Funny to hear these folks in the southeast talk about how trashy NJ is...they all think of Newark - they have no clue. Thinking back, I was very forunate to grow up in that area and to be honest never realized how well known it was.

Thanks for the recall on Irwin's...that was it. There has to be a marina that would hold 75 boats...no? Keep me posted - I can make it back in 5.5 hrs :)

A lot of us were forunate to grow up at the Jersey Shore. Even with all the trashy talk about Jersey, housing is going up all over the place. So A lot of people can't be wrong about Jersey.

You could power boat all summer and ice boat all winter.
Good Memories

Thank you
Jim

And they are all sitting there for sale! Really anything over a mil is just sitting there. The boom is over here for a while. Don't get me wrong it's still an expensive area but there are a lot of deals out there , people aren't getting the prices they were a year or two ago. Exeption is riverfront property , if you can afford the taxes god bless you!

Irwins.....I'll forever have a sore spot in my gut from those f'ing people.... Chan totally screwed my father over back in the 80's...

Anyway, before my family moved down here (late 70's early 80's) they would take weekend trips with the boat and stay at Molly Pitcher and Mirasol.

No Kiddin... My buddie built a house up in Scenic Highlands and just sold it for $1.2M. There was a house down the street that was competing with him when he was trying to sell and two weeks after he closed the owner dropped the price from $1.1M to $700K...

Thats why I left little silver , 2 acres , not on the water , old busted 4 br ranch , went from 6500 to over 19g in 5 years. 19000 to rent my property was just too much! Man this pic is old , my boat is still in the driveway!

Hunster...what do you know about GPS?? I was flipping thru the setup options and there is something turned on that's called a "speed filter". When I did a search on the internet it said that it averages speed over the course of time to give your speed.

Hey, I wonder if this is why my GPS was reading different then everyone else's "claimed" speeds when they were getting hammered by an old pink and lumpy resin bucket! :evilb:

49.9999999 hours idling in the river 0.0000001 hours with the hand held on the Parkway in the your truck. :evilb: :evilb: :drink: :drink:

Shark if the pink Apache ever saw a ten foot wave it would've pissed its pants. The only time that boat see's water that big is when Frank takes a picture on the beach and brings it down to the dock. :D
