I was inside the cockpit of that particular boat on Sat and it was perfectly dry and spectacular. What a machine!

Seriously though, the boat was as flawless and as perfect and as fresh/new smelling as any new boat I have been in. |

Those magic trees do wonders to freshen up the interior...
How was the rigging? Second to none? :D Seriously though, we're laughing about it because nobody got hurt and because the boat is going to or perhaps already is back in top shape. But the sight of such a beautiful rig sitting half-submerged is truly heartwrenching... |

Re: Sunk 51 OL
This past June at the New York Poker Run I had a hose clamp on the sink in my head pop off while hooked to the fresh water at the dock. :( Me and my crew were busy partying and no one saw the cabin filling up with water till some one went to use the head.  Mike and Paul came over to see what the comotion was and told me don't worry about it they'll take care of it go have a good time. :D With in minutes they're Techs found the offending clamp and fixed it then they proceeded to clean the entire cabin. In about an hour they had the entire mess cleaned up so good you couldn't even tell there was ever any water in there. :) :) They didn't owe me anything cause my boat isn't covered anymore by warrenty but they fixed it anyway. They are two top notch people with an exelent team behind them. I know they'll move heaven and earth to be sure the owner of Candy Shop will be happy. I never got a chance to thank them at the Poker run so here is a belated thanks. Mike and Paul Fiore have a fan for life not becuase of their boats but because of their attention to their customers.

Re: Sunk 51 OL
Outerlimits can't beat Fountain out on the kilo course so they are trying to win the prize for who's boat looks more like it's sinking at the dock,, I definitly think OL won this one.. :D

I couldn't say if he would or wouldn't have. I've ever met him but would like to. I also haven't ever seen Fountain send a support truck to a Poker run and have Reggie walking around shaking hands. But I haven't been to a whole lot either. My comments weren't made to compare brands only to give credit due to two individuals that deserved it. Dodn't be jealous  you know you want the auto submergence option too. All you got to do is change to the better brand. :evilb: :evilb: |

I'm in the airport headed back from the show and can tell you not all boat companies treat people with respect. I was treated like a f-cking outcast by one VERY popular companies' salesman over the weekend, all because I don't drive their brand of boat. I'm still a little pissed to be honest. There is no place for this anywhere, and you NEVER know who you're talking down to. That said, 99% of the rest of the builders were as cool as ever and I enjoyed seeing the familiar faces. |

I've had that happen to me by the salesman that had already sold me a boat. I was looking to by a second boat and for some reason that I still don't know he never would return my calls. Needless to say I didn't buy my go fast from them, bad on him because the boat I wanted they still have for sale over a year later and are now advertising "big discounts" on it. That dealer, brand and salesman lost a customer for life. I should thank him cause he forced me to meet better people. |

Re: Sunk 51 OL
I had the chance to meet Mike at Smoke on the Water. We had broken a trans in the boat, the Nashville Catz, so I put in our spare and broke it 10 minutes later. I only carried one spare, so we were done, the day before the run. Mike came over and said he had a trans on the truck and sold it to me at his cost. Not only that, he had 3 of his guys help clean out the cooler and put the trans in the boat. The trans is hard to get to in the back of a Nortech, and we didn't have a hoist, so this gorilla that works for Mike held the trans with a rope around his neck while I bolted it in place. All of this, and we didn't even own an Outerlimits. Needless to say, I was impressed. Those guys have all of my respect. Once again, thank you Mike and everyone else that helped. By the way, we broke that trans at the start of the run the next morning. Only made it about 2 miles out of the no wake zone.   Eddie

Re: Sunk 51 OL
They were dry sump Super-Cyborg Bams- good for 1500hp. The problem was that the first one broke in reverse trying to get the boat off of the trailer. The ramp wasn't long enough for the tilt trailer, and the trans is not very strong is reverse, with only 2 clutch plates. I didn't have a spare cooler, so we cleaned it the best we could. It obviously wasn't good enough. When we got back to the shop, I got a new trans and cooler and that fixed it. After thinking about it, I wouldn't re-use an oil cooler in a motor, if the motor had broken. I did what I could with what I had.
We flushed that cooler in a parts washer, ran 3 cans of brake cleaner through it, and 2 quarts of trans fluid before installing it. Still wasn't good enough. So if anyone out there breaks a trans, do yourself a favor and change the cooler. It's cheap insurance. |

Re: Sunk 51 OL
This year at the LOTO shootout, that same boat (I believe) was taking on water while parked at Shooters 21. I remember standing there watching the guys semi-frantically running around to find the leak. Wild is my witness. At least it was a 51 OL w/ triple 1075's that looked just like this boat

Re: Sunk 51 OL
I'd like to see the preformce figures on this boat. :evilb: It's gotta be wicked quick.

I didn't want to comment on this thread for a few reasons, I personally find it very hard to speak out of turn on the events that transpired of the 51 OL and what had happened on being someone else's misfortune. What I will say, is, what happened in the above statement is not offened mentioned. Not only were they there to help the OL crew, but went out of their way to help Nortech or any other manufactures states one thing to me . CLASS ACT. The camaraderie, the professionalism not only to offer parts but get right in there and lend a helping hand is to me what makes this sport so great. Excellent job...OL  Jeff |
