My Top Gun is leaving Mo today heading for Fla, new owner is taking her to the Bahamas. Wish I was going. Will be in KW tho for races.

radios normally have a range of around 20-30 miles max for regular vhf any longer you need SSB, sat phones will work, cell phones normally will only get signal 10-20 miles out max and in most places its much less, GPS works anywhere
Forgot to mention that is a high traffic area, so you will likely be within VHF range of several vessels at any given time and USCG/very large ships have much longer range with their vhf equipment due mostly to antennae height.
