Good luck, I was looking for a home equity loan and ended up talking to someone in New York! Basterds ran my credit 3 times during the process and to top it off the local branch sent in the wrong application online.

I plan on doing my Banking elsewhere

Did you "swipe" the card or just punch the numbers?
We had a situation where the card was "unreadable" which happens often with welders (high frequency zaps the magnetic strip) We punched the card manually, got an authorization, even made an imprint of the card and they told us it was no good a month after the fact.
BS if you ask me.

SAME DEAL WITH US BUT WE CALLED MERCHANT SERVICE AND GOT A VOICE AUTH ON THE ON PURCHASE AND NOW THEY HITTING US WITH A CHARGE BACK. IF THE CARD WAS BAD WHY THE HELL DID I GET A AUTH CODE. I ALSO CHECKED THE I.D. MUST HAVE BEEN ONE HELL OF A FAKE IF YOU ASK ME.

WHAT DID YOU HAVE TO DO TO GET IT RESOLVED?

It was a mess.
I pulled the file out and looked at it quick.
Ours was with Discover.
I was wrong about us having the imprint of the card, we normally do, do this but this time we didnt and thats where they stuck us.
Our cost on the materials was just over $5000. We settled with Discover for $2400 by threatening to pull our account (we do very little with them) and by showing years of service with no issues.
The original transaction was dated 10/18/04 and it was closed 2/17/05.

We called Discover continuosly and would not take no for an answer.
Filled police reports.
Filled s/n with manufacturer as stolen equipment.
Basically through harrasment we got some resolve from Discover and alot of education.

Got frauded too.
Card went thru, shipped item, card $ came into our checking account.
1 month later, CC company called and said card # was stolen, along w/ the entire series of numbers of that bank card.
In short, the CC company took the $ out of our bank account.
We do much more due dillegence w/ all CC purchases for now on.

"Discover Network Merchant Operating Regulations
4.2.3 If you do not use a POS terminal to electronically scan or read Cards, you must use a suitable imprinter to clearly imprint the empossed information from the Card on the Sales Data and you must fully complete the Sales Data as described below............If you cannot imprint the 2GO card, you should ask the Cardmember for there standard card that can be imprinted........."

This is copied from the Discover handbook and it was the basis for their argument.
Basically what it says is if you dont physcally have the card and can prove it by electronic capture or imprint....the CC companies are not responsible.
We found out the hardway that we have no recorse from telephone sales, internet sales or those new little key fob credit cards.
