Of course, one way is to standardize the rule books and enforce them. Anything else you can think of?

Here's my non-political stab at an answer. O4' looked like a success on the surface, but there were issues in the background. In 05' their wasn't enough give from both sides and it came down to money. Seems neither wanted to give enough or take a back seat to the other...both at fault I guess. 06' it became apparent that SBI had KW locked up and OSS wasn't going to take a back seat so they locked up Destin. No matter how you spin it, both groups are competing for boats and trying to survive. End result is good shows, not great. And brothers fighting with each other.
I don't speak for any of these people, but I believe that AMF couldn't run their Turbines in SBI. It's obvious the Turbines are the direction their going in now that they have 3 with more in the works. I've always been curious if JC regrets not allowing the Turbines. Can't speak for Dave Scott, but assume he liked what he saw at OSS better. Same for Branch. As far as Muscle, if in fact Branch said he left SBI because he felt the deck was stacked against him with the rules being enforced, I call BS on that. Fountain still fielded plenty of boats in Washington and KW. Skater won both races. Looks like Muscle won a race this year in OSS, which is good. One thing I can assure you is that Nigel and the Fountain Frenchman are not only tough and well prepared, they are also in bed early on school nights. That may have something to do with it too. Then again, maybe not.
PS - I give Destin a 10+

In answer to the 2nd point question-
Merrick: Mayr-ick (english) "RULER OF THE SEA"
Thanks to all of you who were able to make it to our
venue. We were delighted to have everyone from the
various sanctions and thought you put on the best show
any fans had seen in recent history. I personally have been
involved in this sport over 35 years and was pleased to see
the enthusiasm has not changed. I've heard efforts are being
made to improve any short comings observed. Thanks again
to all involved.
