I wish I could change my F35-7 project boat for a Chris Cat project. Tell me if it is true! I heard by someone who owns a Motion 35 that a Chris Cat is (according to him) a big slow and heavy tub, and he would never ever run this boat...

Is it really such a slow boat for a cat?

The 35 Motion may have a lighter layup on it but as far as the chris cat being a slow heavy tub, i don't think so. It has a lot to do with the setup also the chris was built in 1985-1986 (not sure on exact years) when 4 blades were rare so the x dimension was not were it is today, I would not hesitate about buying a chris cat for a second.

Compared to a 35 Motion, I would call them slow too. They are quite a bit heavier though.

Every now and then one will pop up, Greencard looked at quite a few, most were junk. The one that he bought is in very good shape, and the setup is very good, thanks DueClaws! I do know of a shadow cat that is in very good shape, it's the yellow one in the classifieds, it has a lot of nice hardware also.

Most of my old pic collection is lost but someone from West Mi. should have pic's of Cat Nip - Shadow that ran Modified - w/ small blocks.

Yes the CCats were heavy but that's what they were about. If I remember they were around 9,000 lbs - does that sound right? Think the AO's are around 6,500 lbs. with their layup. The CCats were for wave battle. Lot faster decendants around but can they can keep up in up in the rough. Availability of CCat's - Prod. figures - heard anywhere for 75 to 175. Bought a cottage a while back from an old CC salt and he said 90 some, so anyone's guess.

Anyone familiar with the "dirty dozen" story they refer to on H20 in the Kurt Berger(Kurt's Marine in NJ.) story? Where CC offered the first CCats to 12 APBA team's ? Sounds like an interesting story.

El Boss was 30 feet long...weighed under 3800 lbs bare hull..... had a pair of aluminum , fuel injected, Keith Eickhert built small blocks at approximately 600 hp each. Top speed 118-120...... and the throttleman was on fire in rough water.... Willie also had a 38' Cigarette race hull..and never ran it again after his first ride in the Shadow.

Mine had two 565 NA Paul Pfaffs, moved x-demension, ran mostly at 1200 ft above sea level and was good for about 118 mph, but hated smooth water. A nice 2' chop and she came alive. Lots of fun...

There is one around here that I think is a old race boat. Its called
Flying Tiger. If I remember right it has some lettering on the side indicating it was a kilo record holder years ago.
