Shame , Tim offers a lot to this forum and powerboating . I see if he wants to go into the sports photography business he'll have to annie up with some paid advertising or we can just check out his web site and buy the pics of us and our friends 'til then.

WOW, what's up with this? Sharkey and I go at it about his undying love and devotion for everything Outerlimits but dang it's all in fun for pete's sake. I post photo's here too along with many other people. If someone has a problem with Sharkey it's purely personal because Tim is really a great guy and he is fun to go back and forth with and disagree with here on OSO.
I say let Sharkey post pictures...to me...he's the kind of guy this sport needs and this website needs!

This post is not intended to cause a uproar, I'm just trying to understand the situation....

Posting pictures for everyone's viewing pleasure is one thing..... Posting pictures and putting a $$$ on them is another....

Unbelievable.
Where are all the "other guys" pictures?.....I dont see them.
Maybe Tim should charge OSO for bringing some entertainment value to their board that we pay to be members of.
It sounds to me like one of the moderators running amuck again....I dont believe Steve would make a business decision to have requested the pics be removed.

Thanks For your all your support and pictures Sharkey. You've always been good to us and we love the pictures and warehousing of related boat racing information.

So does this mean if you posted all the pics for free and "suggested" a donation you would be ok?

With the ink marks on them I would assume they were for sale .

I agree he does bring a lot of good picks to the form.The tributes are good!!Let him post them or be a advertiser.

I guess the issue is when he started to watermark them and offer them for sale on his site. Tim, I am kinda divided on this one since I appreciate all you've done for the sport and all the great pics you take. But I can also see OSO's side since some people are paying fairly hefty fees to be an advertiser here and trying to sell photos also. Hopefully you and Steve can work out something equitable so that everyone can be happy, sure would miss all the pics you post up :(

:mad: Does anyone really care if they are for sale? Without his pics there would be less than half the amount of Poker Run and Race pics on this site. He took the pics and it is his right to share them and do what he wants with them. Otherwise these forums will just turn in to typed up whining areas for all of us. What fun is whining without pictures? :p

work it out with Tim because not only are his pictures great but also he himself is a huge informal supporter of this site. I know Tim fairly well and he is always talking about this site at poker runs and in all the performance circles.

If i'm understanding this correctly it was only the pics of the LIVE broadcast and party?

firstly if they didnt want pics taken and put on a forum, they shouldnt have allowed cameras in those areas. Tim has a right to offer for sale his pics. The watermark is to protect his intelectual propertys as no one else can copy the pic and sell it for profit.

secondly,His pics were taken in a public event therefore he has the right to do with them as he pleases, if someone wants one, they have a choice as to wether they want to pay for it or not.

thirdly burgers and fries/ie slandrew ie andrew realtor has done nothing except slam people and encite anger, I feel that he is more of a detrimate to this site than tim's pics. speaking ones opinions and disagreeing is one thing.

Sharkey takes some great shots. But what I don't get is ... instead of asking him to remove them, was there even an offer made to be a paid advertiser in order to allow them to remain posted?

I understand business is business, but I'm sure something could have been done to rectify the situation.

I agree! I think the only problem is the watermarking. It's the same reason why we're not allowed to post classified adds for our boats and have to pay for the add. :(

I remember some other photographers/businessmen who had their threads deleted, pictures removed and in some cases were banned for trying to market their services without being a paid advertiser.

I wish it was free to advertise because I would be advertising all over the place! :cool:

thank god..... i have come across three types of people in this crazy hobby of ours.. some of the greatest people i have ever met, pure scumbags, and tim sharky.. tim is a gentleman, period...... i hope all this gets worked out before the winter rush starts... i feel the rumblings.... :evilb: :evilb:
