Go back to post 1 and start reading the thread again, there is no mention of fountain or Reggie until post 14, when one of the usual idiotic cheerleaders for Fountain jumps in... Yet you ask why people bash them, for that exact reason, a retard that likes nothing better than to stir things up. Congrats to you on having a boat that you are comfortable with and enjoy, but remember some of the people in your camp like to throw the mud first.

A. Attaching a foam mattress to the bottom to make the landings smoother.

B. A flat spot on the bottom of the hull to add lift

I am guessing that he was referring to using a pad bottom design at the transom? I am by no means an expert, but I belive that the hull on many Step hull boats flattens out into a pad at the transom. From what I have seen Cigarette step hulls do not. Just a guess I am still hung over from last night and barely able to sit upright and type right now.

I believe their speaking about a pad keel design.

A pad keel hull has a flat (or less than 24 degree) section on the keel.

These are rear views of a traditional hull. The bottom image has a 0 flat pad. The pad could be greater than 0 degrees.

Some claim pads are faster, and others claim pad ride harder.

Ok so I know what a pad bottom is. So if the boat was a 46 Velocity we'd have a new kilo record!
