Where is it now ? I would of thought they would of at least made a race boat out of it.Probably to big/long ?

Have to put diesels in it tobeat many of the endurance records out there. With gas engine it might make it to Bimini but probably not back. Most other records are 200+ mile runs.

Everyone bashs Reggie but he doesn't have someone else build a boat for him to break records! I love Cigs but that sucked and they didn't envite others to ther run.

Skater has built boats for Fountain. And the Cig run was well documented. Not exactly a "closed run". They didn't need to invite anyone to challenge them. If they broke the record that day there was enough people to document it correctly and ligitimately. If the boat had a padded hull it would've beat the record. Ask anyone that was there and they will tell you the same thing.

but the you get into the whole... "if it's a padded hull it's not a Cigarette" thing.

Not only did skater build a few beak boats years ago that were very successful on the race circuit

But remember the fountain/skater cat???

Douglas Marine/Skater has built boats for many many prominent boat company's

Skater is a "custom" shop.... it only makes sense for "production" shops to outsource their "custom" work. Now, I'm sure Neill would argue that..... His "customs" are truly amazing, but I'm sure take too much time away from Cig's core business. Besides, it's great to see the builders working together.

I wouldn't be surprised to see another "cool" thing pop up in the near future!

There was a LOOOOOOT of power left in the sticks at 170. It is in the opinion of those there (that had direct access and delt with the boat) that if the bottom was padded it wouldn't have rocked and would've broke the record. Cigarette (from what I was told) was concidering padding the bottom but I guess they changed their minds. Probably too much money spent and no return. Cigarette is already the best built boat on the market, with the longest history. They have nothing to prove. :p :p :drink:

I have to agree. If Reggie had Skater build the hull or anyone else for that matter, you guys would be all over him and Fountain for cheating, bending the rules, whatever. It is OK for ayone else to do it but if Fountain did it all hell would break loose.

Just my opinion for what it is worth.
