3 Attachment(s)
I finally finished my winter project and I am going to mount it on my Boat tommorrow.I made a Tunnel tab out of 3/8 inch 6061. It is 38 wide and 26 long. The braces for the cylinders are made of 6061 1x2 Aluminum all fastened with SS counter hex head bolts. The cylinders are OMC cobra.I had to wet sand by Hand down to 1500 grit.

Re: My winter project
The hinge was made by cutting out 3 inch sections of 1 and 1/4 6061 Aluminim rod and drilling a 5/8 inch hole(actually 4 thousandths over) and inserting a 5/8 inch SS rod.The pins for the cylinders are also 5/8 inch SS

Re: My winter project
Doc,
I plan on doing the Jax PR this year if my schedule work out.I have been out of the cockpit since august with a torn rotator cuff, which needed surgery.I go back to work on the 18th,but will be in class for 3 months as I am upgrading to Captain on the MD11.Stacy says hello to you and Tommy and hope to see you this year. Vicious It is a 1990 and I was seeing the low 90's with light loads on a good day. This off season I have put on some jackplates and now the tunnel Tab.I put the tab on because I was getting the Linder(george Linder, the designer)hop in the mid 70 were I cruise most of the time.I talked to George and he said it would cure it.I cant wait to see what the speed will be next season I am expecting a couple of miles an hour.I am also running Bravo Props which is a great all around prop but could probably get more speed with some 3 Blade Cleavers. |
Re: My winter project
Fishhead, I bought the molds to Aero / Predator boat company some years back and one of the pieces of tooling was a modified shadow, except the chines are a little wider it has been streched at the transom with a notch and 5" more free board at the transom. The first one I built was in 1998, I rigged it with 300 Pro max's / 1:62 gears/ 32 x 15.25 3 blade clevers the boat weighed 4119 lbs dry the boat ran 109 to 111 pretty consistantly. We are going to cut a new hull down the center of the tunnel and widen it 12" and put a 1.6" spray rail / body line in the freeboard side to give it some new look. I have not decided which way to go with the deck yet, but I am going to do a one off deck with a canopy for next years race season. Check out my website you can see how we build the hull now, No more hand laid glass everything is vacuum infused its a great process.
Talk to ya later. Spark |

Re: My winter project
Gary, Mark, Last season I raced with Bobby from C&N marine/ repossesions in his boat. I don't know what is going on with him for next season for sure as of yet!
But I know for sure I will have two cats running on the OPA circut next season from my shop, plus Gary Cooks 28' Vee I am building him right now for class #5, So I guess for now it is all open for discussion. |

Mark, Here is one we manufacture in house we do them in single, twin, triple, quad and five rod applications.
Otherwise stainless marine I think has the best one on the market, If you need something let me know I will see what kind of deal I can get you on it. Spark |
