Reggie had Excalibur build them and Lake X rig them. The customer would come to Lake X, run their boat and take delivery there from what I remember.
Overhead was pretty low for him back then and most of the investment money went for sales marketing.

The 38 Cigarette Top Gun I think unanimously takes the crown for the most widely known and most popular powerboat to date. I'm not saying everyone loves it, but they know what it is.

The engines were too tall after they became side by sides and they wanted a sun pad recessed so they raised the sides of the cockpit 4" or so. Then after it was all said and done a mold was made.
Mark McManus would know more, I was on the road race to race most of time when that was being done.
But in regards to a J Morris, I have no idea and never heard of anyone that was around by that name when it was being created. Maybe somebody over on the production side sketched it.

What we need to do is get Jerry, Richie Powers, Allen Brown and a few others as guests on Talk Offshore this winter for some phone in's. We'll call it the Legends of Offshore. Richie and I already talked about it about a month ago and he wants to bring on some legends from Europe as well. Callers and Listeners are in for a real treat. These guys are the who's who that made offshore what it is today.
Martin and I are working to have Talk Offshore Talk and Type Tuesdays, The Legends of Offshore by the end of January.
