I pulled a fast on on e-bay
HEHEHE!!!!!!!
I have been watching an auction for an almost new Furuno 72 mile radar with a 6' open array to replace the older Furuno on my Bertram. It retails for $9975.00. There have been lots of bidders but they have slowly dropped off till one guy has been the high bidder at $3800. for a couple of days. He must have been snoozing because I pulled my famous trick of putting a bid in with about 20 seconds to go. HEHEHE I won it for $3850. & I was prepaired to go to a little over $5100. :evilb: |

Hey Sean!
Yes, It's getting dirty as hell. I am going to give it a good scrubbing right before they shrink wrap it. I'm glad I don't keep it there in the summer. Let me know when your around & we could have a drink or three. See ya Dave |

Re: I pulled a fast on on e-bay
Well THAT puts a whole new paint job on things!
I always wondered about people having a friend bid things up & I guess people do it. I doubt that the owner would mess around for $50 or so & get stuck with his item. He would have to pay the fee on top of that. I know lots of people do it to start the auction action (myself included) but tward the end? Probably not. Now I just have to wire money to this guy & figure out how to ship it from Nigeria  Just kidding! |
Re: I pulled a fast on on e-bay

Re: I pulled a fast on on e-bay
Yup wait till the very end to bid. Sometimes it works , sometimes a bidding war will flare 2 minutes before the close :drink:

Re: I pulled a fast on on e-bay
You can use a snipe software for this. I have been using www.esnipe.com for many years. They charge a small fee if you win the auction. You can bid within a few seconds of the close of the auction.
I happen to live in town and drive by the Bertram nearly everyday! |
Re: I pulled a fast on on e-bay
Sounds like a helluva deal, congrats.
Sniping is the only way to bid. Never used esnipe- never thought I needed it as long as I have broadband. When I'm bidding on something, I NEVER bid until the very end- I use a stopwatch to track the time and wait until the last ten seconds to pull the trigger. Works like a charm. :p |

Damn snipers!

Re: I pulled a fast on on e-bay
I learned to sneak attack on e-bay. If you know how to do it.... you can drop a bid in about 4 seconds before the end consistantly. I always make my bid at the very end. I recently purchased a 12" 6 jaw pratt burnerd chuck on e-bay. New it was 3 grand. I got it for 125.00.... tee hee.... I was prepared to go to 600 for it... but the other bidders were snoozing thinking they were going to get it for 50 or 60 bucks. I knew what it was worth and waited until 4 seconds before the end and nailed it.... The best part is some other guy bid about 20 seconds before the end and was told he was "the high bidder".... along with " check back to see your status"... That was when he found out he had lost the auction and it was too late to put in another bid...... :D

Re: I pulled a fast on on e-bay
I use Auction Sentry software running on my PC. I have it set to snipe with 7 seconds to go on the auction. I win many auctions and I don't need to be home. I do need to leave the puter running, but I don't have to pay a "sniping service" to bid for me. Works great.

Re: I pulled a fast on on e-bay

www.auctionsniper.com I use it all the time. Never have to be home, never have to leave your PC running. Cost is pennies.

Re: I pulled a fast on on e-bay
DJD, I'll have to remember this and block your bids when I put the Cigarette on Ebay. :evilb:
