HEHEHE!!!!!!!
I have been watching an auction for an almost new Furuno 72 mile radar with a 6' open array to replace the older Furuno on my Bertram. It retails for $9975.00.
There have been lots of bidders but they have slowly dropped off till one guy has been the high bidder at $3800. for a couple of days.
He must have been snoozing because I pulled my famous trick of putting a bid in with about 20 seconds to go. HEHEHE I won it for $3850. & I was prepaired to go to a little over $5100.

Hey Sean!
Yes, It's getting dirty as hell. I am going to give it a good scrubbing right before they shrink wrap it. I'm glad I don't keep it there in the summer.
Let me know when your around & we could have a drink or three.
See ya
Dave

Well THAT puts a whole new paint job on things!
I always wondered about people having a friend bid things up & I guess people do it. I doubt that the owner would mess around for $50 or so & get stuck with his item. He would have to pay the fee on top of that. I know lots of people do it to start the auction action (myself included) but tward the end? Probably not.
Now I just have to wire money to this guy & figure out how to ship it from Nigeria
Just kidding!

You can use a snipe software for this. I have been using www.esnipe.com for many years. They charge a small fee if you win the auction. You can bid within a few seconds of the close of the auction.
I happen to live in town and drive by the Bertram nearly everyday!

Sounds like a helluva deal, congrats.
Sniping is the only way to bid. Never used esnipe- never thought I needed it as long as I have broadband. When I'm bidding on something, I NEVER bid until the very end- I use a stopwatch to track the time and wait until the last ten seconds to pull the trigger. Works like a charm.
