Re: Boat wreck video
Sure looks like a Hustler. Porposing, starts turn, gets some transom lift on the bounce, comes back down with drives turned, bow steer, starts to slide....bummer!

back in '94 or '95 I stood my 26' Thoroughbred on it's transom at 75-80. The air shot put the x-wife completely over her bolster from a sitting hanging on position right down on her butt/lower back on the floor in front of the backseat. I held on to the wheel and rode it out but came down on my bolster headrest so hard I had a completely bruised cheek for a month. We were lucky. From that day forward whenever the blower whine got loud I got a dirty look and sometimes screamed at. She was done. I carry the lesson of that day with me, to this day. Re: Boat wreck video
It looks like they are crossing a wake, three in a row. They are at a very bad angle to the waves, almost parallel. Go over the first into the second. The third,he back off the throttle, the front of the boat dips, hits the side. The boat does not push through the wave, it pushes the boat. It goes donw hil from there. I didn't know you can watch the video in full screen.

Looks trimmed to much, also wondering if a u-joint let loose in a drive. Heard of that happening and throwing you into a hooked situation?????????

Re: Boat wreck video
This situation happened to a very good friend of mine in fl.
He had a Super Hawaii that had a bad porpoising problem. He was going about 45 mph and started a left turn to enter channel from river. As he was turning he crossed a small wake from a boat that had just passed. The bow came over the wake dove down and bow steered, put the boat entirely on its starboard side. His son was in the passanger bolster and was thrown out bouncing off of his shoulder as he went past. His wife was in the rear seat and was ejected. The boat slid on it's side for about 60 feet with the right side of his face in the water. The boat righted itself , meanwhile his wife was now in the middle of the river with boat traffic coming. Luckily his friend saw it happen and went to her before she could be hit by oncoming boats. Needles to say the boat got sold and his wife, although she still goes out, is always a nervous wreck. I had her in my boat and the entire time I'm driving she's poking me in the back to slow down. |
