Re: Have You Taken/passed A Boating Safety Course?
Got it when I was 12 USCGA course. Have taken it 5 times since. 25 years old now. Will be taking another refresher by spring. NJ is also the law. Mine never had an expiration date.

Boat US online course
Power Squadron Course US Coast Guard Course Tres Martin Performance School Passed all w/ a perfect score. Tres' class was incredible! I've been boating 30+ years and his course taught me more in 6 hours than I knew from 30+ years of experience. |

Yes, but I am out of date. Where does one go to get a 'decent' course?

Re: Have You Taken/passed A Boating Safety Course?
Just updated mine in Aug, the laws are changing in NJ & NY which will require you to posses a safety certificate to operate a motor boat / jet ski. I believe it is a good thing.

Re: Have You Taken/passed A Boating Safety Course?
Attending Tres Martin's school back in 05 gave me a whole new outlook on performance boating.
I also learned more a bought over all safe running in two days than I have in the last 30 years! |
Re: Have You Taken/passed A Boating Safety Course?
never taken a "boat safety" class
but i have a USCG Master Also keep CPR and First Aid for the professional rescuer current did the bloodborne pathogen one a few years back and although it wasn't the most pleasant topic I'll prob. take a refresh on it. I alway reccomend people take those 3, never know when you might need them. I've never had to use the CPR (thank God) but the first aid and bloodborne pathogen courses I use all the time. Knowing how to help people who are hurt (even minor) without endangering yourself or anyone else is hugely important when you are around large numbers of people on a regular basis. |
