Why are they any better than the others?

Got one in a 15 whaler and it won't stay charged for more than a few weeks. It is 6 months old and I am not impressed, especially since it costs 3 times more than a regular battery.

On paper, they are great, but seems they've been suffering some quality problems laytely- comes up a lot in the 4x4 forums. Odyssey is another AGM battery and they have a lot of military type background before they hit the consumer market.

AGM is absorbed glass matt- better design, takes pounding better, better performance/specs, no vents/fumes or water to add, usually a 7 yr battery.

I run the odyssey in my racer and quad but so far normal marine in the boat

Sam's was carrying an exide brand orbital battery- have one in the Jeep grocery getter, recycled from the old racer- locally they don't carry it any more.

Any AGM battery that you can get locally and is easy to warranty would be good.

I got blue tops when I first rigged the Envision three years ago. They look great under the red anodized brackets. I've replaced four batteries. If you let them go dead, they're gone. One went bad within a year. The current batteries are good and I keep them charged - no problems.

If I could do it all over again I would go with standard batteries. A lot cheaper to replace.

I have had yellow tops for 6+ years now and they are awesome. I even use 1 every winter in my duck blind and it doesn't go dead in the couple months it sits out in the cold with no charging.

i have blue tops in my Scarab and i am not impressed. they dont seem to hold a charge near as well as the deep cycles i had in my Scorpion. one other thing i noticed is the dont give you much warning when they go bad, heck a standard deep cycle gives you months of warning. i will not buy another set of Optimas, i have not seen any advantage for the extra $$$
