Gerry,
Most can't answer your question because of lack of experience in both. However, boats are like tools in the work bench. There are different tools built for different situations.
My 2 cents: Once you go cat you never go back. Ask Dave Scott why he does not have a "V" in his fleet.
Once I purchased my first cat the TG went on the trailer and stayed there. I now have two large cats a 39 and 40 and currently negotiating for the ultimate 46 to replace the 39.

Re: Whats better in the rough Cat or Vee?
This subject has been on here before. I just point to one race argentina approx 1998. Alcone in his 2 engine 46 skater kicked butt on the 4 engine 50 ft V.
It was big water over 10 ft. The only race in my 10 yr career where I finally knew what the milling are was for. We had to stay on plane in the milling area to keep from sinking.

to do a fair comparison.
I started this thread with a vague question so as to not "stir it
up".
I went from a 32 vee to a 46 cat. I can tell you it is not
even in the same league, However what if I compared
lets say a 51OL Vee or a 47 Apache to a 46 cat?
Running in big ocean rollers.
