If you're seeing a "true 50", you are likely close to what the B3 will do. Not withstanding the inherent limitation of the drive, 10mph is going to cost you alot of dough. You'll probably need 100 to 150 hp which isn't going to happen (reliably) with the short block you have.
You could probably do a Bravo 1 swap for your 3 and end up about even if your drive is in good shape. Then you need a motor and exhaust. If you bargain shopped and did the work yourself, maybe $6 to $8 grand? You probably have a fairly conservative x-dimension so either a shorty drive or moving the drive up a bit is likely going to need to happen.
You'd be better off with another boat. They put the 3 on there because it's made for a heavier boat (and they're a little friendlier around the dock). If you want 5mph- there's an easy, virtually free way to get it- gut every non-essential item from the boat. Everything in the cabin, carpet, all the junk you carry.

For 5 or 10 mph, you better figure $5-10k in upgrades.
