How should it work when I am the only one capable of driving the boat and parking the truck? (Not that I am saying I am the only one capable of doing these things, but just that the people on the boat don't have a clue how to do either) I haven't had any problems as of yet but want to know the proper way to handle it if any come along.

Well, ithink in your case its ok. But i think what he ment is that alot of people just take to much time ,blocking the ramp.
Like putting the boat in the water and then start loading the fishing gear and so on.

That can all be done on the parkinglot. I agree with him.
If your by yourself ,ofcorse it takes a little bit longer but some i have seen are like 40 min on the ramp ?!
Espacially jet skiers, they block the ramp all the time and ,,,,know they could easaly move.

Oh I've got a bunch, but a couple really stand out. The launch I go to is only wide enough for 2, so this doesn't help. One day after being out on the water we go to get some food, about 15 miles from the ramp. As we're getting back in the boat we can see a storm coming, ok no biggie. We head out and it seams to be coming quick, as usual around here. We make a mad dash back to the ramp to find about 6 boats in front of us. My buddy starts putting the cockpit cover on as I'm turning circles in 4 footers waiting. We finally start to head in and get the boat to the dock, we jump out and I run to the truck as it starts to down pour. I get back to the ramp to see this moron backing down it and PARKS IN THE MIDDLE!! THEN, he gets in the back of his truck and starts to wave his friend in that's about 8 boats back!!! Meanwhile, I'm standing on my running boards watching this putz with my mouth wide open wondering what the hell he's thinking? I had enough... I ripped into this guy so bad, everyone was getting soaked waiting, needless to say, he went up the ramp boatless and the line behind continued to move like a well oiled machine.

One more-

Gotta love watching these guys that do nothing but scream at the top of their lungs at their wives and kids, I feel SOO bad for them. The best part of watching all of this, by the time they are done (10-15 mns later) the wife usually throws "the jab", I told you so, HA! It must make them feel 2 inches tall.

Anyone that knows what they are doing should take only a couple minutes, a lot of the time I launch alone, granted my boat is only 24', but I'm in and out in under 3 mins from backing in to parking the truck and leaving the dock.

There should really be a "launching test" to get a license....

When we were kids...dad , then us later would fire the 35 erude up..still on the trailer and get ready for a high speed launch compliments on the truck brakes!! There wasn't any hold up at the ramp!!! Same loading...put the damn trailer in the water...drive it ON! hook it up and away we go...dont' forget to pull the fuel line...let the motor run out of gas while running!!! My biggest pet peeve at the ramp, is the cranky old farts that try to tell everyone how to do everything. They usually have a bass boat that they drive on their trailers, revving their motors. There are 3 foot tall signs attatched to each dock that say no revving motors while trailering. You would think they could read foot tall letters.

Saturday afternoon watching idiots at the boat ramp. Priceless!

I didn't see anyone talk about this guy... The one who loads his boat and pulls up enough to clear the dock, but not far enough for me to get my 60' rig squared up to back in. Now not only is this DipSh&t in my way, I'm in everyone elses way. Then he look at me as if to say "im not moving till i get all my wifes bags, the kids toys, and my fishing stuff unloaded and into the truck" oh then he also remembers now is a good time to search for a wrench and pull the drain plug. During this his wife and kids run to the bathroom and of course he will wait for them also.
There are a lot of people who like to boat. There are Few Boaters.
It also seems like every guy who just borrowed his father in laws boat for the day is at the ramp while I'm there.

Cruisers with Wifes need to have some kinda sliding scale. They can give more entertainment value then an evening at the local comedy club.
