Great thread.

I unfortunatly had the same thing happen with the keys in the ignition and the engine running and doors locked. Just a tad bit ebarrased, I was able slim jim the door open in a few minutes though.

One of the best ones I have seen was my dad @ the local ramp at very low tide, backed the trailer off the end of the ramp, needed a tow truck to fix that one... ooops. It is a double wide ramp, luckily he was tight to one side, and the other side was accesible.

Another local ramp in the area has a small turn around area, and a set of bleachers for the entertainment value I have spent many o' hours there watching the fun. I have backed many other peoples trailers down that one!

from the way the boats pitching nose down i'd say theres a GOOD chance the trailers still attached to the bow eye!!! LOL
And from the look of the truck sinking....if it keeps goning deeper it will eventually yank that boat under with it!

This one is me... I waited my turn at the ramp and was waiting to taxi the boat onto the trailer at the end of the day. I put the throttle into reverse and gave it a little gas to back into an empty slip and the boat took off forward! Fortunately I was able to steer and missed the boat parked along the dock on the other side. I asked the guy I almost hit if he saw what happened and he confirmed that I put the throttle into reverse. It turns out that the setscrew on the shift cable came loose while the drive was in forward and nearly caused an accident. That was definitely a lucky day for me due to no accident and no damage to the boat.

What's the deal with all the women backing in the truck and trailers? My husband and I have a system: We pull in the parking lot and I and our four children get into the boat, I turn on the batteries and blower and he backs ME down. I lower the drives and start both engines and back off the trailer and get out of the way while he parks the truck and trailer. When he starts walking down to the docks, I will then proceed to pick him up. We are at the ramp about a minute.
And this is in a 1999 36' Baja Outlaw on the Mighty Mississippi.
My number one pet peeve is watching the women holding a rope walking along side the trailer being backed down the ramp. Then standing their holding the rope while their husband's park the truck and trailer. What a waste!!!

We were at a Lake here in AZ waiting at the dock with the boat for the guys to get back from parking the truck. While we are waiting, we hear a young girls voice say "Oh my god.. (laughing) I don't know wher the brake is (on her waverunner) she nails the boat from behind. Then to top it all off.... I get out of the boat and being the insurance person go to immediatley assess everything The girls friend comes barrelin' into the dock behind her and nails her friends waverunner and in turn our boat... AGAIN!!!!! I had had it at that point. I went over to her... ripped the lanyard off the steering handles and said, " Your brake is the f'n off button and your freakin' hands... you don't gas it when you're coming to the dock!" I was furious!!!!!

I keep dreaming of the launch ramp that charges by the minute, say $2 a minute. That would be beautiful...
