36' Outlaw 100 MPH ?
Does anyone know of a 36' Baja Outlaw that is capable of 100 MPH? What kind of power does it take to get to the century mark?
|
As an owner of a 36 Outlaw that runs 84, I would have to say it is going to take at least 1000 per side if not more and Number 6 drives to get it done. Unless of course you removed the whole interior. Then I might be closer to 92-93.
The Outlaws are very heavy and inefficient wave crushing hulls. |
What power are you running in your Outlaw?
|
I thought there was one with 900's and 6's that got there. i may be wrong
|
I would think it is similar to a straight bottom Top Gun, they take about 1000hp x 2 to get there.

This boat with 900's was billed as the Fastest 36 Outlaw at 105 MPH back when it was for sale a few years ago.
It still shows up on Lake Cumberland Marine's website. One of only two I know of that were built with #6 drives. |
Hawkeye Boat Sales has a new 35 Outlaw with 700's that will run better than 100 mph. Seems that somebody had some photos on here of it being built.
Would it really take an additional 300 hp per side to push the 36 to 100 vs. the 35? |
Pier Pressure in Canada has one with 900's and #6's I recall it running a hair over 100.

I'm not so sure I'd want to go 100mph in a Baja.

Baja in Canada
I ran my 388 Hustler in a Poker Run in Canada 4 or 5 yrs ago,it was a little rough,2s and 3s maybe,I was running about 85mph and the Baja couldnt keep up,it was so heavy in the rear it kept leaping out and cavitating. At the time,it was supposedly the worlds fastest Baja, but not that day on that water. He never did run with the rest of us,and one of the boats was Joe in his 32 Sunsation.I think 900s and 6s are way too much for the 36 Outlaw,
|
So the worlds fastest Baja wouldn't run 85 huh?

mike you know I was joking, everyone thinks there boat is than the nexted guy:D but the new materials baja is using now will make a lighter stronger boat. and the 36 was a splash from the old 36 cig if I'm right.:D
I have heard some say the 36 Baja was a splash from a Cigarette. However when I look at a Baja and Cig hull I see a much different bow profile. The Baja bow starts going up to the nose much sooner and the Cig is more blunt. Also a Cig has no pad and the strakes are bigger and much sharper and so is the transom edge. |
A 36 Outlaw will do verrrry close to 100 with the 700's from merc and the NXT drives. This is confirmed!
|
Park a 36 APACHE next to the 36 Outlaw and you will see where the outlaw came from, it might have a wider beam.

36 Apache - 36 Baja
|
Man,,, thats a pretty Apache!!!!:D :D
|
It was the Penatang Poker Run,that Baja was white and yellow if I remember correctly. As for Joe and the 32 that day,he was next to me all day,I had to be wide open to pull away,I couldnt believe he was there, cause I had my hands full with a 38 Hustler that ran good. John,I was on your 43 with Wayne, hell of a boat. The 32 Maximus that worked so good for you were mine.I hope you enjoying it.
